Donāt expect a polite human service from the staff.Food quality was good value but unfortunately thatās where the good points start and stop.Firstly the menu is spread throughout the venue and doesnāt actually detail what is in each meal, the breakfast wrap for instance or the full English you actually have no idea what you are getting. When our food did come they had completely forgot one of our order of 4 and so they ended up starting to eat after weād almost finished, save the food going cold. The worst element though was unfortunately the staff, particularly the unfriendly girl that was pot washing. The only table that was clean and available when we arrived was by a staff door, which was closed. We sat down and started to have a conversation and then suddenly we couldnāt hear each other over the banging and clattering going on in what was now evidently the pot wash area. I politely asked if I could close the door, to which I got a short and snappy reply of āyouāve sat by the staff room and I need to keep going in and outā.Iām pretty sure the door was put there for many reasons but one is almost certainly to keep the noise from entering the restaurant and ruining the customer experience. Iām also sure that the manager wouldnāt expect their staff to talk to the customers the way this member did to me.We donāt visit Liverpool very often but when we next do we certainly wonāt be using Rubens again.

Great breakfast. Good coffee. Nice view to people watch.

Friendly staff, great food, awesome location (although hard to find on Google Maps). Sitting outside, along the water, with a cool breeze, the experience was delightful. My daughter ordered the Nutella Banana Waffles and I ordered the crispy bacon & cheese bagel. Both delicious! The coffee was excellent too. I will come back again.

First a few negatives - nothing to do with Ruben's but maps inexplicably had the location on the other side of the dock in a non existant location between Gusto & Revolucion de Cuba. Have asked this amended. Finally after ten years of being a vegetarian, and trying literally dozens and dozens of places up and down the UK, have I found the best veggie breakfast. Hands down, lovely fresh leaf spinach, veggie sausages which are as good as any you'll find anywhere; grilled halloumi, beautifully poached eggs, beans tomato and thick white bloomer toast. Superb.Wife's non-veggie breakfast equally good. She pointed out it was a very good cup of Earl Grey. I had a very good coffee āš

Amazing spot for some gorgeous food and coffee with great views of the docks. The vanilla latte was so good, one of the best Iāve had.The pancakes were really good and a huge portion.Prices were great for the area and the staff were so friendly.

Stopped in to hide from the rain and grabbed a quick drink and decided to go for some pancakes too.I had pancakes in New York and they were good but these ones were out of this world good. Without doubt some of the finest pancakes I have ever had. The hot chocolate was superb too, I have had better but it was far superior to most other places that do hot chocolate.Definitely worth a visit, loads of comfy seating round the back too. 100% worth 5 stars.

Lovely cafe! Coffee was perfect, and cappuccino was probably the best presented that I've seen so extra points for that. Breakfast was delicious and the view across Albert Dock. A great place to start the day in Liverpool.

Really not good. Gave this place a try rather than visiting the generic Costas next door, but that was a mistake.- Ordered tea, got decaf tea. Why? I wish I knew.- All sit-in drinks served in disposable paper cups - even the milk that came with our tea! The tea still had bags in, with nowhere to put the bags once removed. Rubbish. This isn't McDonalds.- Most of the available tables had spilled liquid, or sugar.- An overflowing wheelie bin was positioned just a few metres away from us, even though we were sitting inside.- Lots of staff behind the counter, but we had to stand at the front of the queue for some time before anyone would acknowledge our existence.- Music was too loud, and included ads

Nice coffee! Ordered a full breakfast and a Egg Benedict with spinach were both nice and not greasy at all. The view is good too. We were too hungry to take photos of the food though š¬

Staff were very friendly when we arrived until we left, brought everything over to us.The waffles were gorgeous, freshly made & fluffy, we couldāve eaten another one they were that yummy! A decent sized cuppa too. We also had a tomato & mozzarella panini which was very nice too. It wasnāt too expensive.
