Have visited turnpike on regular basis, but after the disaster last friday unfortunately will ever eat there again. We had few drinks as usual and ordered calamari and two meals, calamari arrived cremated so took it back to bar and was told sorry and that was that, also complained to two waiters to no avail, then another disaster arrived the chicken was covered with a cheese slice just slapped in top, looked disgusting, after a wait of over 40 minutes which we weren't told a about although waitress was very apologetic. Came home and sent complaint email and still waiting for a reply. Disgusting.

Warm & welcoming atmosphere, food is good by pub standards & the bottles of wine are priced well. I always visit with my elderly mum n dad who always enjoy.

We used to live around the corner, so we'd visit the Turnpike pretty frequently. Went again today with our 3 year old. Food was as lovely as ever, really tasty. Service was nice and friendly, lovely atmosphere and in general just a all round nice experience. We won't leave it so long before coming back in future.

Gorgeous welcome, as warm as the fabulously heated radiators! Had food here which was really tasty and the bar well stocked, although we were warned that there was a wait, didn't take long. Staff throughout were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The only downside was a large group of adults with young children who were far too drunk to make sure they were OK- however this was swiftly and professionally dealt with by the staff here (how this didnt escalate is again, testament to how this was handled at the time). We will definitely be back and are looking forward to our next visit

Lovely staff, food OK, not brilliant my friend did not enjoy her fish and chips, I enjoyed my veggie option, which was nice but not brilliant. Hospital visiting did not complain as time short, but I suspect they might have changed it.Enjoyed the ambience and staff called us a taxi.

Regular weekly visitor with my mum for a lunchtime meal and drink. The food is always exceptional and plentiful. The staff are very friendly and helpful, nothing is to much trouble. I would thoroughly recommend a visit to this establishment.

Had an amazing day/evening here food was excellent and the staff were so accommodating to all our needs. Even the manager came over and showed a personal interest into how me and the family enjoyed our experience. Can’t rate the chef more highly as he/she cooked my blue steak to absolute perfection which I might add very few pub chefs can do this. So to sum my visit up good value for money good food and nice polite staff. 5 stars all round will deffo be back.

Went here this afternoon for a meal. Couldn't fault it. The meals were all hot and cooked to how we asked. Portion sizes were brilliant. Four meals, 1 glass of coke, 1 bacardi and coke, half a lager and a pint of lager and lime and it all came to £44. Excellent value for money. Steaks were cooked perfectly. Lovely, friendly and cosy environment. Although it was busy we didn't have to wait as long as we were told. I honestly and truthfully cannot fault this pub. We will definitely be visiting here again. The Turnpike is a family friendly pub with good parking facilities and great access for the disabled. Definitely recommend this for anyone wanting to go for either a quiet drink or a meal. I really can't praise this place enough. Thank you to all of the staff both at front of the house and also in the back in the kitchen. Well done!
