Black Dog Ballroom NWS in Manchester

It's been almost 3 years I was at the Black Dog Ballroom, as I live in London, however what I do remember was me and my good mate having a fantastic time here, the staff were nice, the food was nice, pool table was good and the prices were very reasonable (well any Londoner would say that about prices in the North 🤣) once I return to Manchester I will be coming here often. Just home from a private party for my son in law . Beautiful place staff extremely friendly and very helpful. Tom on the bar went that extra mile for us defo 10* service. Highly recommended

Very tiny events room. I could smell rat urine 🤮🤮🤮. The guys at the bar were very quick to process the orders, though felt that the drinks were very expensive. Toilets are weird as they're for both genders, found myself bumping into ladies as I exited (whilst trying to sort out my junk 🤦🏾‍♂️)Brace yourself for parking, it's not cheap at the Northern Quarter.

Definition of a Dive Bar. It STANK like a toilets, I'm assuming some drainage problem and it can be fixed cos that's gotta be driving off customers.Food was similar to what you'd find from a market place, served in cardboard boxes. Not what I expected. Food was average until I found a hard piece of something in my food. Staff said it was a hard piece of batter and offered to make me more food but it put me off at that point. Should have been offered a refund really.The aesthetic is dark and if you want cheap cocktails and to play pool then its perfect for you. I wouldn't go again personally.

Had a really good experience at a party here but there was one male waiter who seemed quite arrogant- female bar staff were lovely though and the event room was really nice. Food was excellent from salt and pepper ,, couldn't get enough!

Awesome place. Most of the staff are spot on. My issue came when, after having the audacity to forget what cocktail I wanted, I had apparently had too much. So .. I had 2 pints of Amstel and 2 "Washington" cocktails. I went to the bar for 2 pints and 2 cocktails and asked for the cocktails that are "like espresso Martini". I then said I have have ordered 4 (2 for me and 2 for my missus). already so you would think I would know what they are called. The lady at the bar then suggested that I had drank too much already and had apparently been keeping tabs on my and my girlfriend's drinking. Altogether great experience until then. For the avoidance of any doubt, I was not, and am still not drunk, and did nothing in any way aggressive.

Refused a drink with no explanation . I'm 62 and my wife is 60. staff are very inexperienced and need training. The place was empty apart from our group who were a bit loud but not threatening in any way. Ffs we were all over 50 and no threat but the barstaff couldn't cope. Thank god they weren't serving in the 70s and 80s we would have all ended up teetotal.

Great vibe in this place, good music, fab cocktails, lovely friendly staff. We were in on a bank holiday Monday (evening), so probably quieter than it would be on the weekend I'd imagine (with people being back at work the next day). It was perfect for sitting and chatting on our night out.

Decent bar for a bit of basement pool. The tables n cues are properly worn but hey you get what you pay for. It's for fun not for competition. Its got a Decent food offering, good bar and some nice Happy hour deals during the week

This was my first time coming here. I loved it. The food was plentiful, delicious and new. On top of this the decor is dark but atmospheric, with a dim light setting the mood. You are greeted with tasteful music, which gives off very good vibes.I could not recommend this more, it also has free pool on Wednesdays.
