Great food and a lively atmosphere. If it says it's fully booked online make sure you call as there were tables available. The creme brulee is huge but good so it can be shared to finish the meal nicely. Staff were very friendly and attentive

Fab dining experience in city centre. Polished concrete flooring, smooth corners ascending the stairs & handcrafted wooden tables set the tone. Staff are warm, welcoming & professional. Food is good too!

I visited on a Thursday a few weeks ago and had the early dining menu.I loved that I could eat at the counter as i was dining on my own.I was given a piece of focaccia whilst waiting which is the best I've ever tasted.I then chose the crispy mussels, Pork rib eye and finished with Cremè brulee. I can honestly say it was the best restaurant meal I've tasted in a long time. The staff were friendly and chatty and I can't wait until I'm back home in Manchester to enjoy another visit, 100% recommend.

The food was incredible. We were sat at the counter and James made great cocktails and wine recommendations. Will be back again next time I’m in Manchester

Absolutely top class food and service with a great atmosphere. Look up the definition of an awesome bistro and you’ll see a picture of Kala

Went for Sunday lunch. Food was outstanding, one of the best roast beefs I’ve had, and the Mrs’ chocolate dessert went down well.Slightly pedestrian service - took 2 and a quarter hours to do 2 course Sunday lunch. Servers were otherwise really friendly and welcoming.I couldn’t place the style of the place. Has a great reputation and prime spot on King Street but is equally somewhere you can enjoy your roast in your tracksuit. Or is that normal for everywhere now in 2022?

Really enjoyable dinner location, bringing a little luxury to the evening. The lovely interior is elegant with some shine added in. Staff are attentive with even new team members drilled to look after the hungry. The open kitchen is a nice touch and only adds to the delight. Food wise it strikes a great balance between great cooking and menu size. The 2 courses were plenty for us though dessert looks really appetising. The duck was fantastic and cooked beautifully. One note is that everything we tried was quite rich so great for those looking for a little indulgence rather than just a light bite. The wine list is pretty impressive and the recommended wine pairings are well chosen. I wish the place the best of luck over the next year, it's great for small groups and brilliant value. It's a lovely mix of value, a touch of fine dining and a base of grounded hearty accessible food for body and soul.

We've been really looking forward to trying Kala bistro and it did not disappoint. The staff provided a really warm welcome and friendly attentive service throughout. The food was exceptional. Each dish had amazing flavours and the stand out dishes were the octopus special and the duck (which was a really generous portion). I'm already looking forward to coming back soon and trying the rest of the menu! Bravo team.

I hate to say it, as I was super excited to visit here, but unfortunately we were really unimpressed.Presentation of food was great, however everything was just really bland and lacked flavour (apart from the feather blade beef & parmesan chips), that was delicious but a whole plate was too intense to finish and lacked any kind of veg. On a set menu you do not really expect to have to order extra sides. The decor was nice and staff were very friendly and attentive, however the food was lacklustre, just a bit of a letdown. Myself and my party all agreed and would not return.I hate to leave negative reviews but I think it's only fair when a restaurant has been overhyped!

I don’t think I have ever had a piece of beef as good as I had at Kala. The entire meal was perfect. I couldn’t fault a single thing. The staff were so attentive, friendly and the food was just exquisite. It was busy but still felt intimate. The price was also extremely reasonable for the quality and portion size. I’d recommend getting an EXTRA portion of truffle chips as they are dangerously good.
