We had a reservation for my birthday meal last evening. Took a taxi so we could enjoy a few drinks and the restaurant was shut! We did not have any email or phone call to let us know that the restaurant was going to be closed. So I don't know if it's closed permanantly or it was a temporarely closure but it has ruined my birthday as we did not find any other restaurant with last minute availability. So a waste of £30 of taxi and we had to go back to Stockport to find a place for a meal. Not impressed and would not recommend!

Menu had been significantly reduced from what is shown online & only around 5 burger optioos & a handful of sides available to choose from. Looking at other recent poor reviews it looks like this is in an attempt to improve quality by simplifying the menu. However even with a simplified menu & the restaurant around half full our food took over an hour to arrive, with others in the restaurant having to wait longer than our table. Although when the food did arrive it was fresh, tasty & good portion size.Serving staff were polite & recognised the issues with the food service, offering a large discount & apology on food ordered which went some way to offset the very long wait.Looks like someone is working hard to put right the recent issues cited in other reviews, but is still a work in progress at the moment.

First time visitor.... But won't be going back. The staff are so welcoming and friendly, couldn't fault them at all, they made the evening enjoyable. The cheeseburger Rolls and Mac n Cheese bites were good, but the burgers and fries were what I'd expect from a Harvester or Hungry Horse. The Big Manc is Big.... But it wasn't good ☹️ not much flavour, what seemed like solidified melted cheddar and a dry bun. Way too much sauce. maybe to make up for the dry (non Brioche bun)We had a wait but wasn't so bothered about that. However, the waitress gave me a milkshake on the house,. this was full of ice chunks. I was literally chewing them!I though Solita was almost a religion, but I'm sorry... I'm not converted!!

We’ve had great meals here in the past. Unfortunately tonight was an exception. We showed up for our reservation at 6.30pm, but despite there being several available tables it took several minutes for the host to decide where to seat us. We waited 20 minutes without service and eventually had to ask a member of staff to take our order. The reduced menu is incredibly short - there are only 5 dishes available now, a far cry from their previously ample menu, and only one vegetarian option. We had brought our friends with us for their first time at Solita - both had chosen items from the online menu which were not available when we arrived. After finally ordering, we had a long wait for food. We asked for an update at 9pm as it had been 2 and a half hours since we arrived and were told our food would be coming out next. It did arrive 10 mins later.Several members of our party have previously worked in food and retail so we are not unfamiliar with the concept of food taking a long time when a restaurant is busy, however, there were only four other tables at the restaurant, and you would think with such a drastically reduced menu the kitchen might be better prepared. The staff avoided eye contact, clearly embarrassed at our long wait. An apology or acknowledgment of the situation would have gone a long way to improving our experience but sadly none came. The service we received (when we eventually received it) was polite and friendly, it was clear that the wait on staff are good at their jobs but were hindered by a complete lack of management and an incredibly slow kitchen. The food was great when it arrived; but we had waited so long I was past being hungry which was a real shame. Our friends brought their young baby along and it was well past his bedtime even before food had arrived.Overall, really disappointed in you, Solita. We booked this table when you first reopened, and were postponed twice when your team informed us you were not ready to open. From our experience today I think you should have postponed a third time. Clearly you’re not ready for customers.

A shadow of its former self:Our group of friends used to dine here regularly (a few years back) and the current restaurant is a shadow of its former self.Having had a bad experience here last year we decided to give them one more chance - which turned out to be a big mistake!Firstly, the drinks (cocktails), and general service from the bar staff was good; but thats where the positives end.We arrived at 7pm, ordered food by 7.20pm; and it wasn't until 8.30pm that the starters arrived. The frustrating thing being that the restaurant was not even busy (5 or 6 other small groups downstairs and no-one upstairs). During this time we witnessed several other groups of 4 walk out in disgust at the quality of the food and long waiting times - so our hopes of a decent meal began to sink!We enquired as to when the food was going to arrive, several times, and on each occasion was given a different story. One of our group was then told (1hr 15min after ordered) that the dish he'd ordered was no longer available since the kitchen had sold the last of it a moment earlier.Almost TWO HOURS after we'd ordered and the "food" finally arrived - well half of it did:The odd burger and side of fries; followed by the saddest mini bowls of coleslaw that I've ever seen. Half the burgers looked appalling, with no salad / garnish and at best luke-warm. The salt and peppers fries were a soggy mush and Nachos had seen betters days! A real disgrace; particularly given such a long wait.We raised this concern (several times) with the manager and made it crystal clear that we would not be paying for the food as it was of such a poor standard and had taken such a long time to arrive. The Manager (who in her defence seemed to have been dropped in it by the owners of the chain) explained how she had "half a kitchen" and half the kitchen staff to run the restaurant. My advice under such circumstances would be to remain closed: as they've now lost 8 customers for life. The quality of the food was appalling and on par with something youd get at fairground burger van, but there you'd be paying a fiver and not £12+ a meal! The total food bill was quite rightly voided (it must've come to around £120); and we settled our £120 bar bill and left disappointed. The £120 we paid was absolutely fair for the service, quality of food and dining experience we had.Sadly, this is our second consecutive bad experience at Solita Didsbury and we will not be returning. We remember your "golden age" - RIP Solita Didsbury.

Ordered the £9 surf and turf burger last night. It was really disappointing. The lobster was 1 small prawn. There was no crayfish. No mac n cheese - just some melted cheese, no pickled cabbage. One tiny dry chewy burger. It was embarrassing. Deliveroo refunded us the money back. The cheese burger spring rolls were nice.

Great menu, wide choice of burgers and steaks plus salads and sides. If you hungry, try the Big Manc Burger! But the winner (in my humble opinion) are the Cheeseburger spring rolls ; delicious!!

Changed my review, past couple of orders were dreadful, tasteless, dry, cold and cheese was solid, looked microwaved, all ordered through Deliveroo. Brisket was like shredded wheat and no one seems to take it seriously at Deliveroo, all you get from them is we have noted this and will pass it on to the restaurant. Unbelievable, when it first opened it was alright, now it is a joke and there are much better places to spend your hard earned cash.

Well, we have just been here for our first time and loved it, the server was attentive without it being too much and very pleasant, the food was tasty and arrived piping hot at the table and the portions generous, the only thing missing for me is a craft ale on draft.
