Where is The Bowling Green?
🏠 Brookburn Rd, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester M21 9ES
"The Bowling Green is a large traditional friendly family ran pub with accommodation in the trendy Beech Rd/Chorlton Green area of Manchester Our food is served daily & highly regarded and is traditional in nature -we try to cook everything fresh and use local suppliers(vegan/GF menus available). We have 6 superking sized,en-suite bedrooms available -all soundproofed and refurbished to a high standard. We have a vast range of drinks including numerous gins,wines,craft/cask ales with our Guinness being voted the best in Manchester! We have over 30 tables in two outside beer gardens areas one of which is very family friendly and non smoking. Look forward to seeing you"

Tries to be something it's not, with a weird welcoming table by the entrance. Looks cheap, and the food is distinctly average. Tried the 'famous' roast the other week. Famous for being overcooked, no doubt. Absolutely blasted the topside beef.

The staff and food was 10/10! Myself and my girlfriend had the carvery and nothing was left on the plate so fresh and wasn't a long wait. The Guinness was one of the nicest Guinness I had since I moved too manchester 🇮🇪. Sunday well spent!

Disappointed is the polite comment we are able to make. We have two more nights here. The rooms are lovely, but the Continental breakfast bar makes no allowance for people like my wife who is diabetic. If you don’t like cereals because you don’t drink milk, then go hungry! We had dinner last night. Never again! Under-cooked vegetables, and a minute steak, in a ciabatta roll, that was cooked to a crisp. More like school dinners! They need to get a chef who knows how to cook. At seven at night, crying kids who really should have been in bed, and two yappy dogs that drove us mad. The place’s only saving graces are it’s proximity to Manchester City Centre, and it’s rooms. HOWEVER, next day, when the landlord heard of our dissatisfaction, he pulled out all the stops to make amends, and took our criticism on the chin. THANK YOU! Most places pay lip service to ‘sorry’, but in this case he meant it. He said it was what defined him, and we really were impressed, so much so, that later in the year WE PLAN TO RETURN and give it another shot, because it was so ideally located both to the city centre, and our friend who lives nearby.

Me and my fiance visited here. MISTAKE. the bar ordering system is beyond crazy. The woman on the till said to me and my fiance 'ill need that table back in an hour.' it's a pub and there was no 'reserved' flag on it. She was rude beyond belief, even ordering the drinks she was talking to someone else. Shame shes let the place down.

Loved it. We stayed two nights and were really impressed. There is a private entrance to the bedrooms so if you are Covid nervous you can avoid the bar and public areas. Also the breakfast set up is placed in that area. Although you do not get a traditional breakfast (at the moment) there is a wide selection of quality items to choose from and guests may dip in to this even outside breakfast times. We had a waffle and flapjack fest on our last morning. If this is not what you choose to do there are plenty of other places within walking distance as the Bowling Green is well situated for shops and bars in a nice part of Manchester. Finally, the Bowling Green is very welcoming and the friendliness and attitude of all the staff we encountered was first rate. Parking is not a problem and there is a nice walk by the Mersey nearby. Thank you Bowling Green.

Sunday lunch was really disappointing. I've seen someone else describe it as a school meal and that is probably the best description. Felt like it was all frozen food, including the meat, heated up with molten lava (it was that hot when it came). Staff though we're fantastic. We would go back for drinks, but not food.

Stayed in the inn - was so welcoming and easy to access, Manchester centre just 20 min away. Staff were helpful and the breakfast area had a great variety.

We stayed here for two nights and were really impressed. Firstly location: Chorlton is a lovely part of Manchester, and just off the end of Beech Road the pub is by a lovely vibrant sub-area. Rooms were generous but not vast and spotless. A very big and comfortable bed. Yes, being a pub a bit bubbly/noisy outside of an evening (what would you expect?) but once closed super quiet. Staff in particular were friendly and attentive. For breakfast (and snacks at other times) the help-yourself small “kitchen” area was perfect for us: well stocked with all you need for a continental breakfast. If you want a big cooked breakfast (we didn’t) there is plenty of choice nearby. We will definitely be back.

The staff are great. The food is delicious, and includes vegan options. My NZ Sauvignon blanc is a little pricey, but it is one of the nicest ones I have ever tasted. Definitely give this pub 10/10 - worth a visit x
