The Styal Lounge in Manchester

Stopped by today for a drink.The pub certainly has great character and with the good weather, was quite busy.However, the barman who served me (seemed to be the manager or landlord), has to be one of the rudest, most unfriendly, I’ve ever dealt with.Miserable, offhand, and with a look that suggested customers (certainly not locals) are below him.Unusual in the pub business, we’re customers and their business are usually appreciated.

We stopped off here after our flight into Manchester airport and weren’t disappointed - Sunday lunch was delicious (full roast chicken to share with all the trimmings) then homemade rhubarb and marmalade crumble to follow. Staff were lovely too. It’s obviously very popular by the number of people in there too. Can’t fault it. We’d definitely recommend here.

Took my family for a bite to eat before we go to the airport.The pub itself was full of character, log burners throughout and full of original features.The menu was brilliant, so much for to choose from.All meals were full of flavour and great portions. Highly recommend.

Friendly pub with lovely outside covered space for those with pooches and an outdoor log burner! Coffee is served the old fashioned way in a cafetiere and little china cups, nice coffee and homemade shortbread biscuit.

Organised food after a funeral 2day. 20 guests, truly a beautiful place and staff so courteous. Food beautiful, I could not fault anything and made a sad day easy 4 us. I cannot thanku u all enough. Thank you all so much. Pablo and Caroline. X

Superb pub so full of character and atmosphere. The food is delicious and the staff are great. Not much more you could want.

A very handsome looking pub and full of character. We must have visited at a very busy time as most of the staff seemed stressed and not overly welcoming.There was a very gruff man behind the bar who seemed upset people were coming up to pay and roughly told a couple of people they couldn’t order food unless they had booked.Probably great if you’ve booked but not somewhere to drop in to try and get food otherwise.

Fantastic food, lovely little pub. Great place to go for a walk around the local area too.

A lovely old fashioned pub with all the trimings, a large outdoor "covered" space for dining, classic pub food which is very tasty, a restaurant, plenty of beer choices and a few walks nearby around Quary Mill. The food (certainly the burger and scotch egg) are a cut above the average pub (bordering gastropub levels). It's got plenty of space and is a short trip from central manchester. Worth a visit.
