we went for a carvery mother's day, we were one of the first to be served, so the food should have been fresh, the veg was fine, roast potatoes were under cooked, the gravy was like dishwater, and as for the Yorkshire puddings, they tasted deep fried and shattered when you cut them, I took someone there a few months ago and the carvery was nice, and the staff were very attentive but this time they didn't seem to know what they were doing, people waiting to be served and the staff were to busy talking between themselves.

Booked a meal for a birthday party , the staff were so helpful and could not do enough for us , thanks to Gavin and Claire. The food came out together and everyone enjoyed their carvery … Will definitely be returning !! Thank you for making it a lovely birthday for my friend xx

Stayed here for 2 nights for a family wedding nearby. Booked 8 rooms all of which were stunning. Reserved a table for us all for the evening in the Boat and Horses located very conveniently next to the accommodation building which was ideal for all the families especially those with children. Breakfast was excellent and would have loved to have tried the carvery which looked delicious. Would love to return in the summer months to sit in the garden as it looked lovely as on this occasion the weather was to cold. Only disappointment was when one of our party asked for 3 hash browns on their breakfast it was met with the response "It's not an all you can eat' Disappointed as some of our guests didn't have any breakfast or very little. However the guest was served as requested.. Only negative but didn't spoil the overall very enjoyable stay

Come here all the time for a Carvery and I can’t knock it but I’ve come today for a pub meal and the food that was put in front of me was burnt and dry (stake and ale pie) chips wasn’t cooked I sent it back to be give the exact same again. I walked out and left my meal! Unhappy with my experience here today

I went for breakfast today and asked if they did porridge. The lady said yes but I will charge you for a continental as you can have a drink and juice etc so it works out cheaper. I paid ÂŁ7.95 got a tea but couldn't find porridge. When I asked I was given a sachet of alpen and warm milk. I would have preferred the honesty and I would have chose a drink only. Others I was with had a full English. There was no brown sauce. Extremely poor. Pop to Costco next door and at least get some sauce!

Booked a table for 6. Ordered food, 4 meals came together after approximately 10/15 minutes. The other 2 hadn't arrived after a further 20 minutes. I went back to the bar the query where the 2 food orders were , I was told they would check for me. Within 5 minutes the 2 orders arrived. Apparently the reason for this was because we had 3 separate food orders for the same table?? All 3 orders were placed 1 after each other and no other food orders were taken in-between these..... very poor excuse! The food, well below average at best. The steak and ale pie was hard and dry, virtually impossible to cut with a knife and when you did it shattered into several pieces, the rack of ribs were also dry and the meat was tough. We ate what we could of the food and left. Will not be returning here for food, which is a shame as the pub is really nice.Reply to responseI would of thought that the fact 3 food orders for the same table were placed one after another would of been self explanatory??

The staff here deserve a medal. It was so busy this evening and every single one of them was still in high spirits. I don't actually know how they did it!The food was really nice and the tables were all clean and tidy. Overall a fantastic experience. About 2 years ago I left a 3* review here but things have definitely improved a great deal

We went in to the Boat and Horses without a booking and despite being very busy and having 2 coach loads of people and a full pub the staff went out of their way to get us sat down and served within minutes. All the staff were really helpful and cheery. The carvery meat was tasty with a good selection of veggies and different potatoes.

Absolutely brilliant, we stayed in the hotel for 2 nights and celebrated the life of my late Dad in the private side room. I would highly Recommend this place for not just the room but everything. The staff where amazing Keren on the bar was fabulous and made sure we were all looked after. James who runs the bar couldn’t do enough and really made our stay special. Thanks to everyone room was lovely, food was great in fact I don’t have anything bad to say. We also had 2 dogs with us. Highly recommended we will definitely be back. X
