Just returned from a Mother's Day meal for 7 of us. The pub was busy, but with a great atmosphere. Food was amazing, really good choice on the menu. The service was outstanding, nothing too much trouble and all staff really attentive. Excellent value for money. Added bonus of chocolate gifts for the mums! Would definitely recommend this place 😁

Friendly attentive staff. Food very nice. I had the Sunday dinner. The beef was soft and tasty. My friend really enjoyed the fish and chips 🍟. She has returned to this pub on Mother's day and was surprised to see that you now had to pay for additional items on the Sunday dinner which had previously been included. She also complained about slow service. I believe the ownership of the pub has changed hands?? Or management......

Went for a meal this evening 19/03/22 after booking a table last week. My husband and I was really looking forward to a lovely meal together after a busy week at work. We was greeted straight away and shown to our table, drinks order taken and our meal order taken very promptly. My husband ordered squid with a side salad. For the money of this starter we expected a few more pieces of squid than there was on the plate. Very small pieces of squid. I ordered the soup of the day, which was broccoli and Stilton soup, however it was ok but hardly any taste of Stilton. For our mains my Husband ordered a medium to well done Sirloin steak, it was under cooked and bloody in the middle for me this would have been nice but not for my husband. My husbands food came out and I was told mine wouldn’t be long so we waited a minute and then another one so I told my husband to start his before it got cold, my food had been round the pub 2 times before it got to me. They got the table number wrong. I had seen the waitress walk up and down the restaurant before finally bringing it to me. I remarked on the journey my plate of food had taken before being put down in front of me nearly 8 mins after my husband having started his food. And not one apology for the time we had to wait or for the 2 rounds of the restaurant it had taken before coming to me. My fish wasn’t cooked through very well at all and the fish was opaque at different parts of the fish. The nicest part of our meal was the all ready baked vanilla cheesecake. With the desert order we ordered 1 Irish coffee and 1 baileys coffee, we was charged £4.20 then on top of that we was charged £3.50 for an Irish coffee and 4.50 for a baileys coffee. When we asked about this they said they charge for the coffee plus 2 shots of the liquor that’s used in the coffee. The coffees hadn’t seen any Irish liquor or baileys liquor. They was the worst after drinks we’ve ever ordered and didn’t / couldn’t drink them as they tasted so strong or normal coffee plus they were nearly cold as we waited 20 mins for them to be made. As for the service in the Horton Arms tonight was absolutely awful. Yes it was a Saturday evening but even so we had to keep asking people as they went by us for certain things we needed. We was sat by the kitchen door and staff was coming out of the kitchen chewing food as they were bringing food out to tables. I’d never eat there again. Food very sub standard.

Waited nearly 2hours for food with 2 young children this mother's day. We left in a rush as our children were very restless to find once home we had been charged £15 with of other people's alcoholic drinks. Very disappointing experience 😞

·

Busy pub, good service though. Good food and beer. Pleasant staff. Good clean facilities.

·

Atmosphere fantastic, always a warm welcome, real character inside, seats fairly spaced out, garden outside too. But more importantly the food is so so good, good variety to choose from, can't fault it, partial to the deserts, highly recommend.

Beautifly decorated pub, lovely atmosphere. Staff very friendly and great service. Food was excellent as was the service. Will definitely revisit.
