San Carlo Fiorentina in Oldham

The restaurant is beautifully decorated but that’s where the magic stops. Staff not attentive or even happy, they all looked like they had been forced to work! one member of staff told us he did not like Manchester and missed Italy and didn’t understand some of our questions about the menu. It was just a gloomy feel. Food was not really good. Was served to the table within 10 minutes so not fresh either - I felt like we were being rushed. Wouldn’t return, felt like I had wasted my money.

We hadn't made a reservation but were found a table after a short wait. Food was amazing. I had the Lobster Risotto which had a very generous amount of lobster in it. Although it was busy, staff were very attentive and friendly especially Luigi.

Lovely surroundings for a lovely meal with friends. Staff excellent 👏

We ordered 2 pasta dishes which were obviously microwave meals. Absolutely shocking! The meatballs were hard and chewy and the chicken was from a packet. Considering the prices the quality of the food was not satisfactory and certainly not fresh!

I chose to spend my girlfriend’s birthday here, having been in other San Carlos and I must say that even though the place looks comfortable and decently decorated, it wasn’t up to the expectation. There’s no special feeling about it. The food comes way too quickly for my liking, suggesting that it’s pre prepared. Glasses being delivered by hand. Waiters walking around with glasses in their hand screams low budget to me. No sense of occasion. Might comeback but with low expectations, unfortunately

I got took here for a birthday treat by my step daughter. What a fab place, the food was lovely staff accommodating. Will be taking my family in the future for special treats .

The food is amazing so much so we had dinner then the next day we went back for breakfast

Lasagna was perfect and garlic bread too. French fries were a little portion, dry and cold. I dont recommend the dessert, the pastry was dry too.

This restaurant is not as good as it looks… Service is very slow. It took forever until someone gave us the menu. We tried to order, but were told by two waiters, that only the manger will take orders. Vitello Tonnato, an absolute standard dish, was out. So I chose Carpaccio. There was a mayonnaise-like mustard dressing on it, a lot of it. It tasted like something you’d expect from a fast food restaurant. As the main dish I had scallops. There were five of them on the plate. Not a lot for the price of 18,80 GBP. They were TOTALLY overspiced. Very salty. There was NOTHING on the side. Only the five scallops. The spinach that was an extra order was very spicy. I like it, but it would have been a LOT too hot for many others. It was undercooked. Not al dente, but undercooked. They charged 4,50 GBP for the spinach. I tried to order cheesecake for dessert, but that was also not available. I will never come back to this restaurant.

Abbiamo mangiato benissimo, no doubt about it.I’ve usually avoided restaurants attached to hotels and but it was the closest to my son’s school for a dinner on a school night.The staff are smart and have that imperceptible snap you’re looking for in a good Italian restaurant, with warmth that’s essential when dining out with children. That was evident by the many young diners still in uniform. However by 7 pm the unfurrowed brows were mostly due to Botox and the uniforms were a mix of Burberry and 7 for all mankind.San Carlo’s food is good but not at the same level at Locanda Locatelli. The pizza dough is reasonable with toppings that are flavoursome. The chicken on my son’s pizza was moist and flavoursome but the cheese good old cheddar instead of mozzarella. With Honest Crust nearby and Rudy’s pizza soon to join them, it’s not on the same level but good none the less.Tre Ciccio is a good local alternative but San Carlo is really competing with Piccolino and Don Giovanni. Our mains were delicious and the lobster sauce that accompanied my halibut was flavoursome.
