Very fast service and a cosy atmosphere, the real fire is very welcoming after a long walk!I visited in a Saturday afternoon without booking and there were no tables for food available. We still stayed for a drink and the scenery from the outdoor seating area was fantastic. I would recommend booking in advance if you would like to eat though.

Fantastic lamb roast in a lovely pub with lots of character and great views. The staff are really welcoming and service is fantastic. A lovely place to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Friendly pub with a real fire crackling in the grate on a Monday lunchtime. Excellent food served with a cheerful welcome. Good beer and very ecclectic music tracks - played at a volume that allowed quiet conversation.Fancied a burger when we pulled in but maybe should've gone to a 'plastic pub' for that. This 'real pub' offered what it had on the menu and we were well satisfied with our choices. And one final compliment: the toilets were absolutely immaculate - not to mention posh too! An all round pleasant experience. Good luck to the new owners.

I haven’t been to the cross keys for years, as the last time I went I felt like it had gone downhill slightly. Went on Sunday and I can honestly say that now that it’s under new management, it’s the best pub about by far! Amazing location, great food (big portions that are very reasonably priced, just what you expect from a country pub!) and super friendly and helpful staff.Well worth a visit! Oh and it’s dog friendly too, so perfect for heading to after a walk around Saddleworth.

We have been here before and loved it, and we went again, and not loving it so much. It's changed management, was very disappointed in the menu - (no vegan/vegetarian options - not that we are but for heads up) just literally pies, baguettes and Sunday lunch. The food was okay, nothing exciting. They have stopped doing starters as we was told the management want to turn over an extra 10 tables every Sunday... mains was okay, the desserts were nice, but limited 3 out of 6 weren't available. They don't serve coffees anymore. My pet hate, waiting staff, moving plates before the whole table has finished. Charged £3 for a can of coke (multipack aswell, sandalous!)Felt rushed and won't be revisiting unless they re visit the menu and teach staff how to wait on properly.

Service absolutely shocking... literally walked in no one even came to us so we just sat down, booked in for food but didn't receive any menu's (had to ask for them after being sat down 15 mins.We ordered 3 drinks (2 soft and 1 beer) took 20 mins with no word of a lie... appalling. It was 2 young adults running the place (about 14/15 years old) not really fair on them to be honest but not great for a business.

Absolutely stunning food.... New owners Christine and John are so friendly and welcoming. Home cooked food just lovely and plenty of it. Gorgeous settling too

Absolutely stunning pub right in the midst of the Pennine hills above Uppermill (it's around 300m above sea level, very high up). Cozy and warm inside, and a huge outdoor area in the Summer. I live local and I've been coming here for years, great food and lovely draught beers and real ales. Dog friendly. Kid friendly. (in fact when I came here as a kid I used to play in the playground around the back, I'm not sure if this is still here, if it is then it's perfect for the kids!). Staff absolutely lovely. The current owners are sadly leaving soon so a huge thank you for everything in your tenure here! They have said it's about to be taken over by a lovely couple - so looking forward to a new era at one of Saddleworth's finest pubs. All the best for the future Dee.

It’s a lovely cosy pub in a beautiful spot but since change of ownership the food is much less good. The beef was poor quality, the chilli con carne tasteless, and sauces served in a tiny paper thimble that I’d expect to get at a theme park rather than a nice pub meal. Shame really as it’s got such great potential and dog friendly too.
