Lovely food and picturesque location. Try the Rag pudding, it is top notch. Really enjoyed my visit here, the service was really good and friendly. Had a nice pint of cask ale and admired the surroundings. Lots of history and a lovely warm fire. The price of the food was reasonable as well, about £25 for two main meals and two pints. Honestly, the food was a lovely surprise. Good, homecooked comfort food, just what I was after. I will definitely be coming back here.

Excellent food, non fussy service, just superb home cooked food, Good selection of beers 10/10

Sunday lunch very nice. Sat outside in small beer garden and there is also a large gazebo with heaters most probably used in the evenings. Country pub out of the way next to train line. Nice canal walks nearby to walk off the food.

Stayed here following my second day tackling the Pennine Way. Nice welcome and good beer. Would be useful to have a proper facility to dry walking gear however access to the boiler cupboard sufficed.Steven was kind enough to give me a lift in the morning up to the start at Standedge.

I pop in to the place after rifle practice every once in a while. They have decent beer and lovely chips. If I didn't have to drive home afterwards, I'd certainly stay for more than one pint. It's a quiet country pub in a beautiful part of the world with friendly staff and outdoor tables (low risk of the coo-voo). If you can find it, you will enjoy your visit.

Went on bank holiday was really busy and staff were amazing I only drank coke as I had to drive we waited what felt like 3 seconds for our drinks staff were really attentive was nice to see such wonderful service as we all know the hospitality industry has been hit really hard recently it was a breath of fresh air. This place cant fault them the food was amazing and the staff are to. I would give them more stars if I could.
