Absolute first class food and service. The best Sunday lunch I’ve ever had ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fifty fifty on this food. Ordered steak and pepper sandwich, with a side of onion rings. Long wait on food but was not told when ordering or would maybe have thought twice. Steak was hit and miss. Some pieces very chewy. Very little sauce to speak of. Onion rings were coated in a type of southern fried batter, very little onion and tasted overdone. Has this dish before but this offering very different. Overall disappointing

Amazing food, good prices, nice atmosphere, good design and a lot of space to sit even with a big company!

Food was lovely but service was a little slow considering it didn't seem particularly busy.

Went recently for a birthday meal with large group. Very well organised, staff were fantastic and the food was amazing. Not been here in a long time but will definitely be returning .

Booked a table for 7pm . When we sat down The waitress said it would be 3/4 hr before the food was served . Ok so we ordered a starter and main course. We can have a drink …. We got the starters pretty quick and was optimistic . We had gone to the pub early as to “have a drink before hand” which wasn’t easy as all the tables in the “pub” were reserved for football . At 8.15 still not had our meal brought to us. Waitress said it’s because you had a starter ! Needless to say we went home and will not be returning . Ever!!

We walked in asking for a table for 4 after being let down by another place up the road. They made room for us and were super friendly. The staff couldn't do enough for us and the food was great. Definitely going back again

Lovely place. Had not been for a very long time . The food was excellent, reasonably priced. A lot better than another LEES PUB THE DUKE OF YORK in a Royton,. High recommend The Halfway House. The Duke of York needs to learn from them.. My husband says his sandwich, salt and pepper chicken sandwich was amazing.

I've come here a few times and have recommended this pub to friends & coworkers. Their food usually tastes fresh and made to order. The presentation is nice and the menu has a lot to offer. The service is usually stellar. Until today.I usually start with the salt and pepper chicken bites. They're breaded but have a great chilli spice to them. I've tried a few mains and they've always been delicious until today.I decided to try something new and get a salt and pepper chicken burger. I assumed it would be breaded with chili spice like the appetiser. She said it came with salad. What they brought was the driest piece of plain, unbreaded chicken breast- the most overcooked piece of chicken I've ever had in my life. No salad. It was so dry I couldn't swallow it. It actually made me throw up as it was stuck in my throat and wouldn't go down.I asked if I could exchange it for the chicken bites and our friendly little brunette waitress suddenly turned frosty. I explained it was too dry and I couldn't swallow it. She seemed personally offended as if she had cooked it herself. She took the burger away (it DID have the one bite out of it.) When she brought the bites, we asked for drink refills and she shot daggers at us.At the end, they charged me for both the burger and the bites! I explained to the young man that I couldn't eat the burger and asked for it to be taken off my bill. That little waitress couldn't get to the register fast enough to INSIST I pay for both meals because "We had to cook it!"Of course they had to cook it 🙄 but it's not my fault that it's inedible. I can only guess that she has a .... close relationship.... with the chef because she really took it personally. She was so aggressive and demanding that I asked if she was going to have to pay for my burger herself out of her own wages since I returned it. I thought she was going to have to buy it herself the way she was acting. She was hell bent on charging me for a burger I physically couldn't eat and said I must have a medical condition if I couldn't eat it! Honestly, she was shocking. In the end the cashier took 1/2 off and she was livid that he did. Honestly.. think angry chihuahua. Yap. Yap. Yap.I wish I would have taken pictures but since the food and service have always been good in the past I really didn't think there would be an issue. Next time, I'll snap pictures for proof even if I trust the restaurant. It's a shame really because I've had so many good meals and memories there. We're moving to Scotland Monday so this was my last meal there. My friend and I were having a "goodbye" lunch. I hate that it was such an awful experience when it didn't need to be.

Popped in for a nibble, we had a couple of drinks (Guinness & San Miguel) and a couple of hot sandwiches (pulled pork in cheese sauce & a bacon and cheese - both on ciabatta). Both served with fries and side salad. Food arrived quick and hot, pulled pork was a bit sweet with melted cheese like the bacon one, both were very tasty, would have liked a choice for home made chips. Reasonably priced £22 for both drinks and meals. Nice decor & pet friendly I presume, since there was a lovely dog near the bar.Been back for a family meal...all lovely...really impressed with my pasta dish...better than some Italians!
