Nice little pub up in the Pennines with good views from the garden & a nice drive to get there. Interesting menu & really good Taylor's Landlord (which is just-over-border local). Had burgers, which were both huge and tasty. Good food, well worth a stop if you're passing on the M62 or just local. Staff seemed less friendly than previous visits, perhaps it was just a stressful Bank Holiday.

Loved this rustic old pub, staff were polite and friendly and the food was excellent. Will definitely make the trip there again.

£15 for 1 pint 1 large wine and a small orange juice didn't impress me but probably standard these days. Nice staff, nice farm shop and lovely views. Well worth a visit.

Stumbled across this on the way somewhere with a friend, went in for a sunday lunch. Absolutely loved it, despite being busy, the staff were on point.Thought it would be a wonderful place to take my partner for my birthday.Book for a Wednesday as I saw it was busy as a bee hive last time.Besides being seated by the same lovely server as last time, it was night and day from my last visit.Negatives:- There was only us and 3 ladies in the entire restaurant.- No pigeon available.- Food took a long time.- Fries were overdone and tiny.- The blue cheese sauce tasted of a cheap out of the packet cheddar sauce.- My steak was pretty much unseasoned.- My steak was more medium than rare when I had asked for rare.A little bit of a let down birthday meal, maybe I set the expectations too high.Positives:-We were sat in a different section from last time that feels even warmer and more inviting.-The steak was some of the highest quality meat I've ever eaten in a restaurant!- The server was there exactly when we needed him.BUT! I will be returning to give it a go on a busier night, at which point i will be changing or adding to my review.I really hope that night was a one off.

Food was ok. We had the sunday dinner. The problem is that we were seated in the lounge area where the tables are low and not suitable for eating your food . We booked I'm advance . Veg was very soft. Meat hard to cut. And it's not the cheapest. Left a tip not a "see you again" or was everything ok . Just "ta" so dont think we will be going there again

Food was okay, but nothing to write home about. Not as good as my local Toby Carvery, but three times the price. I won't go back there.

After a 15km trek over the moors on a frozen and wet day, this could not have hit the spot any better. I walked in to the warmest place. Not just aesthetically, but actually. The log fired pot belly stove radiated warmth that was just calling my name. And after a great meal, I bought a few wee extras from a fantastic collection of locally produced foods. I'll be back, absolutely.

Amazing food in a stunningly picturesque location! We've both driven past this pub many times but never stopped for food, but we'll definitely be stopping again after this! I had the peppered steak pie, my girlfriend had the meat platter (and took half home for the next day's lunch!) And we shared the mozzarella sticks. It all tasted amazingly! The peppered steak was flavoured and cooked perfectly, the steak fell apart! All the platters individual components were incredible too, and put together was the perfect feast! Neither of us have ever had cold beef that tender before! Perfection! I'd definitely recommend more people to stop here for food rather than driving past!
