Well kept real ale. We visited on Sunday lunchtime so only roasts available.Generous portion of beef but ā€˜all the trimmings’ mildly disappointing. Yorkshire pudding had been awaiting my 2pm arrival since midday. Carrots only became plural when I cut the single slender baton in half. Red cabbage sweet enough to do duty as jam and a one inch cube of sausage brought little to the experience. Ā£40 for two dinners and two pints.

Went for Sunday lunch today with friends visiting from Manchester. What an absolute delight, well worth the wait. The food arrived looking absolutely delicious which was matched by the aroma of well cooked and presented food which was piping hot.Congratulations to the new management who have shown how to make customers feel welcome and leave feeling they have been spoilt. Will be a regular drop in on out canal walk.

Nice little pub with friendly staff but food not good. The ā€œHome madeā€ chicken and mushroom pie and fish and chips eventually arrived after an hours wait, the pie had hardly any filling - 5 small pieces of chicken and a bit of sauce. Fish and chips just about average (chips were cold). Overall very disappointing. Two stars given for the nice cold Guinness.

Went on Mother’s Day understandable that it would have been busy but the menu was minimal with very little availability out of the 4 starters there was only 2 available which wasn’t great. Main menu was either a roast, cottage pie , pie of the day. The desserts again very minimal didn’t have available what was an interest to our party so was very disappointed. Staff were running about like they didn’t know what they was doing. Long wait time for someone to take your order. Overall very dissatisfied and wouldn’t be rushing back or recommending.

We had a great time at the Anchor Inn, we were served by an extremely friendly woman. The food was amazing and they use really fresh ingredients. We would def go back if we in the area again

Excellent pub grub, well cooked and presented. Very friendly warm welcome. Great pint of Black Sheep as well. Just what you'd want from a pub lunch. I'll be back!

What an Amazing place to come and have lunch or a drink with your family or friends. You could take a stroll along the canal and come in for a bite and a drink. Great food and Matt who attended to us on both occasions was absolutely amazing simply created a wonderful atmosphere especially with the kids and they enjoyed it.The food portions are a great size and very filling not forgetting Delicious!!!A must try if you within the area!

Good beer, gorgeous food and a great venue! My wife booked an evening table at The Anchor Inn, Salterforth for four of us to eat and drink and celebrate my birthday. The host Brian, our waitress Harriet and chef Dan made our night very enjoyable. Service was friendly and engaging (without being imposing), and the food was particularly worthy of praise. Two of us ate the Short rib of beef with English ale pie, and I found it incredibly tasty; the crust was delightfully thin, the gravy was rich and beery, the shallots and mushrooms were yummy, and the beef was tender & succulent. I ate a steak and ale pie elsewhere the week before, and whilst that was tasty, this one was finer by far! The accompanying chunky chips & vegetables were also delicious - this coming from a person who normally avoids vegetables; Chantenay carrots (I think) and an incredibly moreish tangy & semi-sweet red cabbage. The cabbage was a revelation for a veg-avoider like me (I originally thought it was some caramelised red onion), and our host Brian explained it was the way the cabbage was braised with pear. I've never tasted veg like it, and I liked it so much I was given a small container of it to take home, and was emailed the recipe from chef Dan - what better service can you get?Our other halves had a lovely-looking burger with chips, and a handsome portion of fish & chips, and they both also really enjoyed their meals. My pal and I each had a dessert; he ate the brownie whilst I had the toffee / treacle pudding (I thought it was toffee but my wife though it was more gingery).A great place to eat sumptuous food. We'll be back again soon as I next want to try the pan-friend chicken with pesto penne!

A lovely canal-side pub. We had lunch, which was excellent. We sat outside and used the table ordering service to limit contact. Drinks were served quickly and the food followed shortly after. I had the sirloin sandwich which looked and tasted great. Served with chips, this was a good lunch. Staff were friendly.
