The Clarion House in Pendle

If you are walking or cycling in the area on a Sunday, (only open Sundays I think 10:30 - 16:00) call in for a lovely reasonably priced cuppa,( normal mug of tea and chocolate bar cost me £1.20). Made welcome and had nice chat, nice open coal fire on the go as well, would be great on a cold or rainy day for a stop. I did a circular 5.5 mile walk up and round Pendle Hill from Barley, then added a 3 mile circular walk from Barley to take in Clarion House, well worth it

Out for a walk up Pendle on Sunday, the only day this wonderful place only and popped in for a pint of tea. Staffed by knowledgeable and talkative volunteers and with a lot of history, this place is interesting. View spectacular, long drop toilet outside is historical (modern toilets available inside), the place simply has such a peaceful atmosphere.

The last Clarion House in the country .Jinny Lane , Roughlee, Burnley.Run by volunteers on cooperative basis, keeping the socialist movement believes at its core.Open Sundays and most Bank Holidays.

A brilliant place for cyclists, walkers and anybody who wants some peace and friendly company out in the countryside. Tea, coffee and minerals available, take your own food. Dogs welcome.

My goodness...A hidden gem,no nonsense,pure Lancashire at its very best! Views are beautiful.If you feel a little sad,alone or totally happy in your heart, get yourself here on a Sunday.Just be you ,say hello and DO chat with folk.Take the effort to ramble (lovely old word!)or cycle.Wonderful volunteers,we met Charles today,who was so welcoming and went the extra mile! Thanks.You can take your own butties, but they have plenty of tea/coffee and biscuits,so it would be nice to have a brew there.

We arrived and the place was deserted. However a gentleman arrived on a bike and made us a brew. He wasn't on duty but held the fort until the duty staff for the day arrived. Always a genuine welcome here. I would like to thank the gentleman for his kindness.

Really historic place with history of the Independant Labour Party. Lovely hot fire in winter, picnick tables, Popular with walkers and cyclists, toilets, serves drinks and snacks. Staffed by volunteers who were very helpful.

A warm welcome and friendly chat awaits all visitors. Beautiful views from the cafe and gardens. A piece of history preserved. Brilliant.

Giant cups of tea, coffee & hot chocolate. Roaring fire in winter and a warm welcome at all times. A step back in time to the Socialist Days of comradeship and friendship.
