Absolutely amazing bar . Highly recommended. Enjoyed a couple of drinks in here after our team got battered by Preston NE . Special shout out to staff member Gareth who went out of his way to pick up our spirits . Lovely clean place , plenty of space , great staff . Our first visit in Preston but if we ever come back we will be popping in here

We were welcomed into 1842 by a very smart, well spoken chap named Gareth. It is apparent that Gareth loves his job as his attention to detail is second to none. Service like this is becoming extremely rare and when done properly, adds so much to your evening. Pressy served us our drinks/ food for the evening and was equally as awesome! Keep doing what you’re doing guys… the little touches all add up and are noticed :-).

Fab food, fab drinks all served with fabulous staff at reasonable prices. My wife and I were really impressed with the renovation work completed by the restaurant owner. Definitely a return is in order.

Visited twice and both times the food was great, full of flavour and will definitely be back. I like the variety you get from choosing a few different dishes at a time. Food is served tapas style so comes out when its ready which is great as each dish is fresh and hot every time. Cocktails are delicious and add a bit of fun to the evening! Servers are very attentive and professional.

Service was impeccable, as a youngster they checked my age, which is always good to see. Very respectful staff and very quick. Also was amazed by the pints on draft but the spirits aka cocktail selection was amazingly superb. I would also like to add that the staff member named Adrian was incredibly friendly and informative of drinks.

Really pleasant evening, the lady singing was amazing, and the DJ after was superb... quick service and really clean. Couldn't fault it. Polite staff and really nice decor... last time I was here was 21 years ago, will try to be back a bit more frequently now.... despite living in Devon!

Went to the Christmas circus party last night. Good atmosphere and music, the circus theme was a bit of a let down....but the meal was so disappointing. Cold soup, followed by a bed of lentils with beetroot on top (literally) and it was just rubbish! When I complained to the waitress no one was bothered enough to even talk to me. Sorry 1842 but I won't be recommending a visit 👎😪

Seeing all these 5 star reviews got me excited for my meal here yesterday but, unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to my expectations. I am vegan and my partner is vegetarian and our food was very subpar, I’ve come across places like this before which serve delicious meat dishes but seem to treat the veggie options as a second thought. The service was amazing, which saved the night, but the homemade bread was very dense, heated up bread rolls which didn’t taste homemade at all and the Thai noodles were bland, cheap-tasting and had seemingly random vegetables in it like stir-fried chunks of tomato. The cocktails were quite nice and the price was decent but overall I wouldn’t recommend :(

The bar is really smartly done out inside. There's a really nice menu, tons of cocktails and draft beer and cider. The staff were great and everything is reasonably priced. Felt very covid safe as well. I'm definitely going back here!
