Where is KimJi Korean Restaurant?

🏠 12 Winckley St, Preston PR1 2AA

"Korea historically has a very rich food cuisine and tradition. It is located between China and Japan and therefore their food culture has been influenced by both. Health is of the utmost importance in Korea and eating well goes hand in hand with that, as health begins at the gut. Here at KimJi we believe eating is also a communal experience, side dishes can be served with every meal and are meant to be shared and eaten together. We use the freshest ingredients that are available and combine it with bold flavours."

An absolute gem of a restaurant. The food was superb and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. Regardless whether you are a world traveller or have never had Korean food before this place is a must. It is quite a small place so I would recommend booking to avoid disappointment. Though there is a great cocktail bar over the road if you have to wait an hour for a table!

A fantastic place to get a first try of Korean cuisine. The staff made us feel very welcome and the seating was spacious and comfortable. The restaurant is located on a quiet street just off Fishergate so it’s easy to get to and away from the noise of the main street. The food was amazing and I look forward to paying another visit the next time I’m in Preston!

KimJi is a hidden gem in Preston, every time we visit it always feels like we have wandered out of Lancashire, this is in due to its more cosmopolitan feeling location near Winkley Square and it’s cozy restaurant. The food it always amazing and reasonably priced, i recommend ordering plenty of sides to share along side your main to give you the best experience and nobody would be disappointed in the KimJi Fried Chicken!

What a delightful discovery. The restaurant has a friendly atmosphere. The menu is varied. The food is delightful in flavour, colour and presentation. The service is outstanding. The prices are very reasonable. We found a right little gem here and will return again and again.

Short review: Umame galore! One of the best places in Preston. Excellent bulgogi & KFC (Korean Fried chicken)Serves samgyetang.Detailed review:The best way to make safe choices with food is to ask friends what are their top 5 must eat places in a city.KimJi figured in quite a few top 5 lists in Preston and I am glad I tried it.I did notice a board on the high street stating Korean food on Winckley street, but did not pay much heed to it until now.A steep flight of stairs greets one as soon as one opens the restaurant door. The kitchen and delivery service waiting area is on the ground floor, whereas the seating is up the stairway (to heaven?)We visited KimJi twice in the last month and must say, the ambience is pleasant and servers/waiters are warm, amicable, despite the multiple oscillations up and down the stairs. (Special shout out to Max, who was fantastic.)The menu is simple and not crowded, so one is not baffled with the magnitude of options and I am hoping they keep it that way.The crispy, spicy squid was interestingly delightful. In comparison, the Korean Fried chicken was a burst of sweet-salt-strong umami - soy flavour which we did enjoy. The pork dumplings were simple, crispy but caution with the accompanying soy sauce, which has enough sodium to suffice a lifetime Recommended Dietary Allowance. A tiny drop is sufficient! The Pork Bulgogi, which looked delectable, was my favourite meal and the star attraction were the accompanying sauces. It is a well balanced dish with powerful flavours. Again, strong umami-salt-sweet combination.Samgyetang- Korean summer soup to fight fire with fire. This Ginseng chicken soup is an entire small 400gm stuffed chicken in clear broth.Needless to say, if one is not a fan of bones and poultry anatomy, one needs to steer clear of this meal. It can be cumbersome, but the protein is delicious and worth a try.The soup is in a way like a Captain Planet meal. Each element on it's own tastes bland, expecially the broth. But when the 5 elements combine (broth-chicken-ginseng-rice-salt&pepper sauce) they synchronise well to form a delectable soup which grows on you mid way during the meal, becomes enjoyable and you will be sad once its finished. We have not tasted the noodle soup & the bibimbap yet, maybe when we visit next time.Overall, we recommend KimJi as we have always left the restaurant satisfied. Must explore, at least once.Manchester and Preston are miles away, both geographically as well as with regards to the culinary scene. But KimJi is a step in the right direction and should be Prestons go to place for Korean cuisine.

Don't recommend ordering delivery with Kimji. I do enjoy their food it is usually good but I have an illness right now that impared my walking and decided to order. It's on a colder side and super stingy with the sauce for bibbimbap (the sauce is important to the meal). A bit too pricy for this quality. Better go to the restaurant next time.

My partner and I went for Valentine's Day and it was superb. They had a set menu and we loved it. Don't think we left any food at all! Lovely staff too.

We had the chicken udon, bibimbap, kimchi, and rice cakes, and the KFC… omg the best!! I understand the hype now!! We also had mango mochi ice cream, my first time having it and it was great! All mouth-wateringly delicious!! Deffo a 5 star restaurant.
