Great pub, great food, super friendly staff & they allow pub stop overs for Motorhome's & Campervan's. Just remember to eat at the pub. Highly recommended.

The beer battered haddock was absolutely superb, one of the best ever! Home made tartar sauce was delicious too. Definitely recommend a drive out to this place!

Shameful... wouldn't serve our fussy autistic 13 Yr old ( by 3 months ) food from the 12 and under kids menu!!!. Said its not allowed... not sure by who....??? So we left.

Our family celebrated the life of our mum at the Alston last Friday 18th Feb Michell, Chanel, Mark and the chef could not do enough for the family. It was a cold rainy windy day and a nice roaring fire welcomed us all. The buffet provided was very nice and also plentiful,. Thank you for help making this sad day end with laughter and memories.

Guys, what’s going on? Normally you are spot on but last night it was abysmal. Had to chase to take our order. The table that came in after us got their food before us, 5 mins from walking out our food arrived. The food was spot on as usual but has to chase again to clear our plates and sort the kids dessert as part of their set menu. Gave up waiting for their ice cream to just pay and leave. Were you short staffed or short of staff who cared? As every time we came to chase they were busy chatting to locals at the bar. Bear in mind we arrived at 4.45pm and the place wasn’t busy so that can’t have been the reason for poor service

Went today for lunch, was really tasty I had steak and ale pie and my husband had cheese burger. Food came out hot and the steak pie was the best I've had in long while. The staff were very pleasant. Brian who served us was very helpful and polite. He showed us round the barn on the side and I've booked in to hire it for my 40th birthday meal looking forward to it 😊

We went here on a recommendation from a lovely lady and her daughter who we met in the dog park. She said they are very welcoming with dogs and food is lovely. Staff are brilliant and sorted us a table as we didn't know you had to book (as we was passing through on our way to Scotland) had a dog bowl and some treats for our dog. Have to say the food is outstanding. The beef was amazing and tasted out of this world. The gravy really set it off. I give more stars 🌟 if I could. I go to say it is Michelin standard. I thank all the staff again and the chief for out of this world roast. Best I have ever tasted.
