Real ales, simple grub and traditional interiors in an enormous open-plan pub in a modern building.

Was very impressed with the food and the value of it. Busy pub but it felt friendly and had a good atmosphere. Staff were friendly and attentive. The only downside was that we had to clear our own table. Apart from that a positive visit to The Grey Friar in Preston.

Lovely food. Didn't wait long to be served. Just wasn't enough staff to clean tables . Otherwise they would have got 5 stars

Food good, staff friendly, but tables not cleared away meaning eating and drinking surrounded by previous occupants glasses and food remains. Therefore 1 star removed

One day I'll have my breakfast served on a hot plate and all items on the plate will be of a similar temperature.

Called in for lunch. not bizzy as it was just after the lunch breaks. got a bit relaxed on wiping tables down, seems to be the same in all weatherspoons that we have been in but when we asked they did, clean and tidy staff are good not a big wait for the food to arrive on the table, had fish and chips which was good and a coke

Lovely, friendly staff amd food but it's predominantly an older man drinking pub during the day which is when I usually visit.

Went into grey friar on saturday 26/02/2022 myself & 3 nieces food was well below par. One of my nieces was given her food a good 15 minutes before the rest of us my youngest niece was given food which she did not order & was sent back only for wrong food to be given again. I find this extremely unexcepfable & not be recommending this pub to friends & family.

This is one of the worst 'spoons I've ever been to, and I've visited a lot of them in my time. The individual who served our food said nothing to us, just plonked the food on the table with a face of utter boredom not even asking which plate belonged to each person. Alongside this, my partner's food never even turned up. When we went to the bar they just said 'that's odd, do you want a refund?'. They didn't even bother to look into it!The food that we did have was standard 'spoons grub though so I can't fault that much there. Although, I have no plans to return here.

Always loved this place, until my last visit on 15/1/22. A simple lunch took 54 mins to arrive, and staff were rude when I went to ask about where it was after 40 mins...saying to me "It's just the way it is." From our position we could lots of other people complaining too, and receiving the same unpleasant treatment. The place wasnt full on arrival, but it was certainly emptied a lot before we could get out. Even the lady who delivered to our table wasn't particularly placating about the wait, also telling me I wasn't telling the truth. I bit into the Butterchicken burger and fat poured down my chin. I tried to soak some of it up, pressing down the burger on napkins. Bit into it again and the same happened. There was just a tiny scrap of lettuce and one ring of tomato on top of the burger...no onion at all. This used to be my No.1 Wetherspoons I told everyone to go to. Now my reigning champion is one in Edinburgh. Feel sad for the place.

The pub was clean enough but there was a poor lad on his own behind the bar serving on a busy Saturday morning with people wanting breakfast etc. One poor girl waiting on tables. So the service ended up slow which was not the young staff members fault they were going as quick as they could. Our breakfast took about half hour to arrive after ordering and when it did turn up it was cold. The egg was hard like it had been sat under a heat lamp for a while. Usually wetherspoons are pretty good for a brekkie but would not recommend this one. The lad behind the bar though was very efficient and friendly considering the pressure he was under.
