I used to visit the Bistro and the Food Hall regularly, I've also stayed in the Spinning Block Hotel several times and ill be honest the food is great and the service was adequate and id even recommended my friends come here to enjoy the bistro and hotel. However, I was overwhelmed by how many staff I could see smoking round the back, even from the hotel window and bistro window, even shouting and being overly loud sometimes and it seems every trip I go on I always see them around the area smoking. I'm sure people get married close to where they smoke as well? You would have thought they would have a closed off area for them to go and smoke and loiter instead of directly under the hotel windows and in view of the bistro, I even saw them loitering and smoking whilst i was driving away through a gate. There are worse things undoubtedly, but I think this takes away from the experience for me a little and makes it feel quite tacky, it doesn't give off a professional image. My friends have noticed this as well, and we have both discussed such. Such a shame as its such a lovely establishment, I hope they can resolve this in the future.

We visited here for lunch. It was very good, the food was inventive and prepared very well. The staff were good, without being intrusive. There was a wedding party in the bar area, but the space is so epic, it wasn’t a problem at all. The setting, in part of the old mill was stunning. Well worth a visit, and to travel to. The bistro is part of the larger mill redevelopment, which is also worth checking out.

Absolutely love this place. Classy, elegant, great ambience, fabulous food, great cocktails and a very impressive pianist. Staff are also great too - attentive. Sometimes wait a bit for cocktails at the bar but worth it. Also if seated at a table, often get served to your table.

Good food but disappointed by the atmosphere and poor service, overall not worth the price paid.Upon arrival there was a wedding function in the bar area which was very noisy and crowded. We waited around 5 minutes to be seated even though the restaurant side of the venue was empty. We was informed the wedding party were due to leave shortly but this continued for the majority of our meal, at least an hour, and so the atmosphere was very noisy. Once the food was brought out we were asked whether we would like anything else (thinking they would only ask this once all the food was brought out) my wife reminded them about her side she had ordered, in which a lead waitress replied by saying I have only got two hands and can’t carry everything out at once. They had also got one of our orders wrong but we didn’t bother to point this out. The food was well cooked however the atmosphere and the service we was provided with let the place down.

Food was average pub food and the service was shocking. Small group of 4 of use and I can only talk for myself but my steak was very fatty and the sauce was that bad I couldn't eat it. My wife's was over cooked and neither of use would be going back to eat. The only positoive is it is a nice venue and of we where on a stag do or hen party we would be going there for a drink

We visited on a very busy Friday . The restaurant was very quiet which we thought was a bad sign but decided to give it a try anyway. We had the set lunch menu. The soup was very good and the fish and chips also was cooked well and presentation good. I had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc which I have to say was excellent. However, the whole experience was let down by a rather peculiar and sad ambience in the dining hall. It wasn’t helped by the total lack of enthusiasm on the part of the serving staff , one of whom , an Italian chap , had obviously had a personality bypass at birth. When we had finished our mains we had to wait some time for service as the waiters were busy discussing their private lives and the schedule for the next shifts. I wouldn’t go back and it’s a pity that just a lovely space and good food is let down by very poor management and couldn’t care less waiters.

Love the room and decor. How to design a bar 2018 award. Piano man was cool but a bit loud preventing easy conversation. Food was good but not exciting. ( Steak was a 9/10). Bordering nouvelle pub grub . 1 carrot and 2 green beans doth not make a dinner. Price was right. Staff nice. Room brilliant. The rest of the mill a great place. Overall 9/10 .

Food was not cooked properly and the service was dreadful. Nobody seemed bothered that our meal was ruined and their best attempt to resolve was remove the item from the bill and offer a drink. Cost of all items was very high, not an enjoyable place to go. We used a gift voucher but didnt even get any change back at the end. Very disappointed.

Went for evening meal with friends. Beautiful decor. Frint of house was good taken to table.Menu a little limited. More steak and grills nothing that makes you go ohhh that's different. Prices top end but it's posh so you expect it. Wine list overly marketed up. Particularly on better wines.Bit of wait on service.Food was good. They had to be asked as forgot union rings.Room is very noisy and if getting on a bit no place for whispering sweet nothings to the onevyon love. While enjoyed it no better than a lot of cheaper local pubs. And they do need to make menus more exciting specials etc.
