I know the couple who have just taken this lovely old pub and Linzie the new manager will make this place with the food and live music she has planned.

Leaving the review a little late as been busy with the holidays & getting back into work.Myself & 5 others had our Christmas dinner at The Traders & I must say we were very disappointed with the standard of food, particularly considering the cost of £70 pp.The starter described as cornetti of salmon, with lobster, crab, prawn & caviar was really underwhelming. I was expecting perhaps a little canopy of each element as the cornetti was not described as “stuffed with” What I received was a roll of salmon filled with soft cheese, with caviar sprinkled on top. There seemed to be no elements of the other fish described? Definitely didn’t have a single prawn & I can only assume the crab & lobster were shredded & mixed with the cheese, but why would you do that with something that taste so subtle, & to shred lobster again a very peculiar thing to do with an expensive ingredient.I can only assume it was a cost saving exercise. On Christmas Day you’d expect to chef to create special dishes not try to save money especially when the customer of paying £70pp.My main fillet steak with dauphinoise potatoes.Potatoes barely warm & the FILLET steak was ribboned with fat! I’ve had less fat in rump steaks, I don’t expect large chunks of fat in fillet steak. The other guest also complained that there food was luke warm when served, 3 of which had gone for the turkey dinner.Cheesecake was for dessert, the accompanying ice cream was tasty however the cheesecake bottom was very loose, almost cake like. The cheesecake was homemade, it’s not particularly difficult to execute cheesecake well?I did complain that my food wasn’t warm & the fillet was very fatty, I think the server panicked, she was a young girl. Didn’t know how to respond barely acknowledge what I said. I felt that was handled very poorly. Not sure if she informed management or the chef but no one came to make any form of amends. The staff were friendly & was obvious they were trying to keep the customers happy, Christmas Day must be stressful in the hospitality industry but as the saying goes if you can’t stand the heat, get out the kitchen. All in all £440 paid for 6 people as my brother tipped £20 (he doesn’t critique food as I do)A very disappointing experience that has put me off eating out on Christmas Day for the rest of my life & I will not be returning nor the other 5 guest to the traders arms :(

Lovely pub. We visited on our honeymoon to sit and have some drinks and play some card games (we provided the games, i'd love to see some in the pub next time). The staff were helpful, fast and able. They chatted nicely at every visit to the table and made being there a very comfortable experience. We had pizzas which were perfectly cooked and nicely thick with cheese and toppings. Great afternoon/night!

Lovely meal last night with the family. Great choice, wonderful food and lovely staff. Would recommend the lasagne, best I have tasted in years. Thank you

The Traders is a friendly pub with parking, a beer garden and seating at the front. It has a wide selection on the menu where there is literally something for everyone. Sandwiches for about ÂŁ7, main meal for between ÂŁ9 and 15 for most options, with Sunday lunch 2 course offer. Chicken with asparagus very well presented, fish and chips available in large and small, cheese pie. Bread and butter pudding very light. Pizza and kids meals. Recommended.

Sadly not an enjoyable visit. Went as part of the eat out to help out. Thought I'd enjoy the ÂŁ18 sirloin steak & chips. Wife had the pizza daughter had the sausage.Arrived at 1pm, was served some drinks in a reasonable time but it took an hour for the food to arrive. Didn't start eating til 2pm. My chips and steak tasted cheap would have been very upset paying ÂŁ18, stil wasn't impressed even at discounted ÂŁ9.My daughter child menu sausages were awful. A powdery texture. Even her chocolate ice cream didn't taste great. However my wife pizza seemed ok, so points awarded there. Maybe they just had the usual staffing levels for a Tuesday lunch and not factored in the increase trade due to the gov scheme. However still doesn't excuse the food quality.

Where to start, waiteress hair not tied back, flat drinks, food absolutely shocking. Seasonal veg i think not more like steam pack frozen veg, chicken way overcooked mix grill all meat was burnt and inedible, cheese garlic bread laced in cheese just horrendous food, would not reccomend nor return, mentioned the food was awful yet still charged full price!!!

My wife and I had a great Friday night out at this reinvigorated village pub! It was buzzing with villagers enjoying a proper pub atmosphere with excellent food - including super pizzas. 30 years in the village and only infrequent customers but we'll be back soon. Best to book for Friday night! Well done.
