Always a warm welcome from Jack, Mary, Chris, Ryan, Terry and the crew. Great service, excellent wines, had some cracking food aswell. Highly recommend a visit especially if the suns out.

We had lunch off the set menu. There were few people in for a a Saturday lunch so we weren't expecting to wait as long as we did to get served but we did know the chef was on her own. Fair enough, we weren't in a hurry. The Lion burger was delicious and the fries were excellent though at £14 I think they were a bit expensive. The coffee after was served only after second request and was luke warm. I did like the atmosphere and may go back but would think twice

Fantastic local pub, perfect for walkers and dog friendly too. A great selection of ales, lovely atmosphere and in a perfect setting surrounded by the famous Whitworth Doctors homes. Not much parking so ideally visit on foot.

A lovely pub nestled up a quiet backwater. Very traditional feel and an open fire, always welcomed in winter. We went as a family and although no kids menu they managed to accomodate our youngest. We do like starters but the only reason for not giving 5 stars was the limited choice. Traditional pub menu starters would help this place maybe wdd a little more turnover into the till. The pub is dog friendly so we took our young cocker and the staff were lovely and informative. Our main choices were delicious though for £10 for bangers and mash, a few vegetables would have made a nice accompaniment. Great all round and looking forward to visiting again.

First time there today. Excellent food, had a bit of a wait for the food as they only had one chef on, but was really worth the wait. We will be going back.

Idyllic setting, lovely country pub, clean, friendly accommodating staff, down side over priced for the food & drinks, restaurant prices for pub food. eating area cold, felt the heat when you went to the bathroom. No special board. Pre booked table, obviously wasn't necessary as was extremely quiet. For a Thursday 7PM.

The only reason I've given the a 3 star and not more is that I only nipped in for a quick pint so didn't really get a chance to experience the place fully.I will say that the staff were friendly, my beer was nice and cool and it's a lovely location.I did notice a guy eating a big bowl of Mussels which looked good.I'm going to have some food there next time I go and hopefully up my star-rating of the place.
