When friends realised we were heading to Southport for a mini break … instantly said you’ve got to book and go to The Fisherman’s Rest (and gave directions). When we got to Southport I remembered the Fisherman’s part! The the warden on site mentioned a lovely local pub …. The Fisherman’s Rest! Yes I’d got the name!We had driven to Morecombe and back and decided to walk over to The Fisherman’s Rest and see what it was all about. The pub was immaculate with lots of reserved tables. We found a table to sit at and the hubby went and found me a nice ale. The menu looked superb with lots of choice.Even though we hadn’t booked a table we were able to order food and it was incredible, the people serving and behind the bar were great and liked a bit of banter. But then to top it off came the Sticky Toffee Pudding with custard… this was truly amazing!Would totally recommend and a big thank you to all the staff for a fantastic meal - especially the pudding. I am hoping to return before we go home to try the Chocolate Fudge Cake. (If not we will just have to come back later in the year!)

I was really impressed with this place, it is mainly an eating place and the tables book up fast, but they still made us feel welcome and found us a table, even though we just wanted a drink. It has a very interesting history on how it got its name, I would recommend visiting even if it’s to read up on this.

Fantastic atmosphere. Fantastic staff. Fantastic food. Probably my favorite place in Southport for Sunday lunch. Had a lamb and mint burger — absolutely delicious. A+++

Good pub food, reasonably priced. Served with a smile and friendly banter. Good menu choices. Very popular, might need to book a table at busy times. Visit today was at lunchtime.

Has had a really nice refurbishment. 6 in our party last night. Food was excellent quality..... restaurant rather than pub standard. Service was excellent too. Great atmosphere. Well priced for quality food and service. Highly recommend and I will definitely be back !

What a lovely place, I went to The Fishermens Rest for lunch with a friend and was very impressed. The food was delicious, with an extensive menu and the addition of a specials board. The setting is really nice and a lovely touch being able to read about the history of the place on the walls. The Southport potted shrimps to start were so tasty, as was the lovely wild sea trout for main course. The staff were friendly and the service was good. I highly recommend this restaurant and I look forward to a return visit very soon.

Love this place. The menu is excellent, service top rate. Prices mid range. Always a specials board. There are 3 chefs so goes well beyond normal pub food. The manager and wife work in the bar/ kitchen so they've got their fingers on the pulse. Decor is pleasant, nothing out of this world just clean understated pleasant. Always really busy so if you want to go peak time (prob 7.0) best to book.
