The Guelder Rose in Sefton

We arrived on a busy day, so we expected a short wait, and Courtney ,who served me apologised for the wait, but there was no need. She was very polite too, an excellent attribute!The food was also excellent as usual. We had the carvery, as it's great value for money, but also as it retains a superb standard too.Great credit to all the staff, keep it up!

Soon as I walked in I thought what a lovely clean pub. We only wanted a snack, so when I saw the carvery I thought we wouldn't be staying, but Clare our server was very welcoming and offered us the full menu. We decided not to eat but stayed for a drink. A lovely experience and will be popping in again tomorrow, as we are here for the weekend.

Lovely staff, very polite and pleasant. The pub and the tables were clean and tidy. We've been many times, but the carvery tonight was a let down. Although the meat was fine, the vegetables were bland, no taste there at all ....... and the roast potatoes were so difficult to cut, we gave it up as a bad job. Sorry to be negative but we've certainly had much better food in the Guelder Rose. We did mention it to a team member at the time.

What lovely staff. So helpful and polite. We had a family meal for my late mother's 60th Birthday and this was her favourite place to eat. The food was fantastic. I was pleasantly surprised. I would definitely return. Thank you

Love, love, love this place! The staff are so polite and can’t do enough for you! As soon as we walked in we was greeted by karl behind the bar then was pointed over to our seats. We ordered our food and went up to the Carvery. (So nice all fresh and hot) then ordered puddings at the bar. I must say the chocolate brownie is to die for! Highly recommend this place if in southport.

We were greeted with a warm welcome as usual. All the staff were polite and pleasant and the food was terrific. We as a family love to get together for a lunch or for a later meal and found The Guelder Rose to be the perfect venue. Sometimes it might be just my partner and myself or it could be up to as many so far as 16 of us. It could be a simple get together or a celebration where some of our party drive from as far as Essex to be with us and nobody is ever disappointed with this venue. Thank you very much Claire and all your wonderful staff. We look forward to our next visit. Best Wishes from us all.

It was our first visit. We were greeted by Joy when we arrived. She was great! Very attentive and chatty, especially paid attention to our little boy Harrison.I just want to say how fantastic Joy was. I could hear her with the other customers, she also gave them the special attention that she gave to us.We left with a chocolate selection box for her little boy! Such amazing customer service.Thank you Joy you were amazing

I only intended to visit for luncheon and I ended up having a small carvery and watching live music.Lovely view of Southport pier and Beach from the front of the Guelder Rose an enjoyable afternoon

We have made coming here for lunch on New Years Day a bit of a family routine. And we were not disappointed this year. Warm, friendly, welcoming staff. Very clean facilities and excellent hot freshly prepared food. Good kids menu too. Would definitely recommend a visit here.

I'm 64 and didn't want to use the code on the table so went to the bar to order. There was one member of staff serving someone and two not. I realised that they were fulfilling orders placed electronically so moved to the other till. As soon as one of them was free she came to invite me to her till so that I didn't have to wait. I placed my order. The young lady was helpful and efficient. The food was well cooked and server had a friendly demeanor. All in all a pleasant experience!
