Amigos Mexican Restaurant & Steakhouse in South Lakeland

We visited here while on holiday. We were lucky to get a table as I thought I had reserved but turns out I reserved with the wrong restaurant (same name but in Liverpool 🤣).Anyway, they kindly accommodated us in the bar area which, while not incredibly comfortable for eating, was very good of them as I don't think my 3 year old would have tolerated traipsing round town to find somewhere else!The food was very tasty and huge portions (our 3 year old barely made a dent in her child's portion) and the staff were all lovely and very helpful.Also there was a decent vegetarian offering which, as we discovered, is not a given in this part of the country!

Delicious Mexican food in a great atmosphere, with friendly staff. What more could you ask for? I highly recommend the potatas bravas and chimichanga... both were incredible! Will certainly be returning whenever we next visit Ulverston. Thanks! 🙏

Nice enough food but not amazing. Seemed more filler food like salad on my plate. But not badly priced. Shame you can't order on the night and have to order a day before.

Lovely surroundings, staff all really nice. Food was so nice, only downside was the teeny size of the fillet steak. Although we know it's a small cut of meat, it was possibly only 2 ounces in weight, which doesn't reflect the price. But would go again and order something else.Just seen response from the owner. Full points for subtle sarcasm! We were not advised the steak would shrink as it was well done, and the other steak was medium and just as small. Yes, we will have our needs satisfied with a mixed grill in another restaurant in future, thanks. In our opinion, £24 for a teeny fillet steak is steep, and this was a special meal for me for my birthday. Next steak we buy in a restaurant will hopefully be a bit bigger than the mushroom.

Found Amigo's through Google reviews and who does not enjoy Mexican food. We booked online and exchanged a few emails with the restaurant. The dining area is modern, beautifully decorated and well maintained. We had the Patas Bravas and the Nachos to start. The dishes were bursting with authentic flavours. Be warned, the proportion sizes are big. This led to taking some of our main meal home! The mains were Prawn Tacos, Burritos and Enchiladas which were again, delicious. Service was inconsistent with multiple check ins followed by long gaps. There were also a few errors on our bill which were promptly sorted. Overall, well worth a visit when near Ulverston. The food is the stand out star of the show.

Absolutely loved our meal tonight. The flavours were amazing. The chicken was so juicy and flavoursome I savoured every mouthful. Fragipane desert made with pistachio was simply genius.Don't expect to walk in and get a table though. You really do need to book.

It's cozy and quirky, and we really enjoyed it. Lovely staff and atmosphere, we had the chicken and chorizo paella and it was beautiful, very well cooked and clearly some very high quality produceThe building is quite small with stairs though. Anybody with mobility issues should enquire on booking
