Absolutely Brilliant Wedding there. Nothing too much trouble we had our 12 year old disabled child with us. Rooms spacious great with his Wheelchair. Views stunning staff friendly and went out of their way for us.

First off, got to say the biggest and best thing about this place was the service. Staff at breakfast, dinner and reception are absolutely lovely. Can't fault any of them. The breakfast food was lovely, and the dinner was great if you like fancy (wife loved it! Would not have been my first choice) and amazingly presented)The hotel and grounds are lovely and it was a nice place to stay. Ambleside is a good 40 min walk away and is a lovely little place. The only thing that stopped it from 5 stars was the room. Nice enough, but the bed was really uncomfortable and the bathroom was not big enough to swing a mouse, nevermind a cat! And the walls are super thin.Overall worth a 4 star but just a few little things stopped it from being perfect

Just left from a 2 night stay at Cragwood. There are no words to describe how disappointed I am with our stay.On arrival, we struggled to make the comparison between the images on the website and what we arrived to, so much so we thought we were in the wrong place! From entering reception it was clear that the hotel is extremely dated and tired and this continues throughout the whole hotel (apart from the one room that has been redecorated for the website images and videos). Our stay was average at best however, the audacity to charge us an extra £25pn for our ‘Lake View’ room was absolutely ludicrous. The room was in fact not ‘Lake View’ as you couldn’t see through the windows for condensation! This on top of all other issues (dirty cutlery, crockery, glasses, terrible breakfast, terrible decor etc.) would 100% stop us from returning or recommending this hotel to anyone.Don’t waste your money, pay a little extra and stay at Low Wood Bay two minutes down the road (they have an unbelievable spa) as it is a genuine 4* hotel and not something out of Faulty Towers like Cragwood! On top of this the ‘Hotel Manager’ has publicly called me a liar on my trip advisor review however, I believe everyone is entitled to their opinion! Seems to me they get all their terrible reviews removed! Had the hotel staff been more accommodating I wouldn’t be so frustrated!

This was a present from my daughter. One night stay with a cream tea on arrival. Arrived at 2:30pm and there was another couple waiting in reception who informed us they'd had rang the bell. At 2:50pm after a couple of rings of the bell and also speaking to a member of staff who was sitting up a room for wedding nobody came to check us in. At 3pm we left and went and had a cream tea in Windermere. Arrived back at the hotel at 5:30pm and only waited 5 minutes and was checked in promptly, asked if we wanted the cream tea and we explained the above. Receptionist apologised and said someone should of answered the bell. No cream tea as we'd had just eaten. Room was nice, hotel clean and friendly staff when you could find them. There was a wedding taking place when we went the bar for a drink, was informed only one bar open, ordered drinks and went outside as we felt like we were gatecrashing a wedding. Evening meal was excellent, amazing food, this made up for all the mishap of the day. Went to room after meal as wedding party were in the bar. Disappointing stay and would not return.

My husband bought a 2 night break away here and it was a beautiful, overlooking the lake, very peaceful which is just what we were looking for. Our room was clean spacious with a huge comfy bed, however there was a niggle with our bathroom as my husband wanted a shower and there was no shower curtain but this was rectified straight away once notified. The one very big downside for us was unless you wanted A la carte there was no where to sit and enjoy a bar meal such as the fish and chips, sausage and mash etc which I just couldn't get my head around. There's plenty of comfy chairs and sofas with coffee tables but no tables to eat at. When I asked if we ordered off the bar menu and questioned if we had to eat it off our laps or bend down to a coffee table the reply was YES!!!This is something I do not expect to do if eating in a hotel that has sufficient tables and chairs in the morning for breakfast. It would of been nice to off eaten in the hotel and enjoy a glass of wine instead we had to go out each evening as the A la carte menu wasn't too our taste and very limited menu.Other than that our stay was lovely, staff were very pleasant and accommodating and breakfast was lovely and plentiful with different choices.

We Eloped to Cragwood for our wedding in early January just after the new year. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel special and valued as guests, we had champagne in our room on arrival - and what a room it was. With a stunning view over Lake Windermere with Scaffell Pike in the distance topped with snow. An incredibly comfy and huge bed and a free standing bath which we spent far too much time in.We opted for the fine dining (£49pp) each night and it was just incredible, the staff served it and explained what everything on the plate was proudly. A lovely five course that was portioned and paced perfectly. Breakfast in bed was lovely and delivered precisely when we asked for it on each day and once again the quality was fantastic. For our wedding, the venue and grounds were just stunning and created some excellent opportunities for our photographer. Hannah - our wedding planner, remained in contact in the run up and locked down the details on the day for that final piece of mind. After the wedding we had more free champagne and a lovely afternoon tea. When we booked out, we were given an incredible generous offer to take our first honeymoon back at Cragwood which we will absolutely be booking.Thank-you so much for all of your attention and for such an incredibly high quality service, our wedding day was stress free and magical. We look forward to seeing you all again!Jonathan & Emma

Set in a beautiful location, we really enjoyed our stay and will return! The staff were all very friendly and helpful despite clearly still having problems due to Covid, and it is a great base for exploring Lake Windermere and the surrounding area from.

OUR AMAZING WEDDING DAY!!! It was excellent because the enthusiasm, effort, professionalism and cheerfulness of the staff made it so!!! The location was stunning by the lake and backdrop of the mountains. The rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean. The food was ‘Michelin’ standard. We couldn’t have planned our wedding any better, thanks to this incredible hotel, we enjoyed the perfect wedding. Every single one of our guests gave Cragwood 10/10. They all highlighted the superb food and fantastic staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Very pet friendly too. We cannot praise and thank Cragwood enough. Stacey, Chris and Hannah in particular attended to our every need. Wonderful, just wonderful!!!!

Looking at the reviews this hotel is clearly catered for weddings but not for b&b. After a long drive, we arrived to be told that the restaurant was fully booked for dinner. The receptionist did offer their bar as an alternative but we found Google to be more informative on places to eat. We paid "country house" prices but stayed in a building which lacked period features and had no character. We actually had much more personal and thoughtful stay in other places in the Lake districts for half the price. Would not recommend it and definitely not staying there again.

This place has lovely grounds and even more lovely staff. So attentive to detail and very friendly. We attended a small, 50 person wedding here, the food was beautiful, great selection of drinks at the bars, great views from the gardens and comfortable rooms. As with a lot of places in the lakes, the hotel needs a visual boost inside as the room we stayed in was dated with quite a few scrapes, wallpaper falling off etc but didn't affect our love of the place.
