"The Gilpin Bridge Inn, started in the 17th century as a coaching inn and records show that it was closed in the early 1900's dues to 'immoral use!!'. In 1872, The Westmorland Gazette reported, on the sale of the farm and innkeepers plant. The farm buildings are now the cottages adjoining the inn. After this, The Gilpin has been a shop, a transport cafe and finally, re-furbished as an inn when a Mr David Allan purchased the property. After a succession of owners, including, Tetley's. The Gilpin was bought by the Robinsons family brewery who in the infinite wisdom, have allowed us (Scott, Claire, Debbie and co) to put it back on the map, where this wonderful inn belongs. Our roaring log fire is a real draw, especially with out tropical c"

Fast service, free parking on site, play area for kids, friendly and welcoming staff. Tasty food for a great price makes this place worth diverting your travel. A good place to stop for a quick bite, coffee or a full meal. Great cake and ice cream 😋 Would pop in again.

We arrived to a lovely bed and breakfast dog friendly pub.Ordered our food before going to our room as we were very hungry. The food was mediocre, the curry had a gloopy texture. When we went up to our room it was freezing and I am not exaggerating!!The en-suite warmed up a bit after they had turned the boiler back on. The shower worked and seemed to be plenty of hot water for both of us.In the information it says there is a hairdryer. We looked in all the cupboards and could not find one.We did get one when we asked but should not have to do this! If it states there is an hairdryer put one in the room, please!!It is winter and we had no heating on in the room, the bed sheets were icy cold to touch and the en-suite felt like ice when you walked in.When we informed the staff they told us the boiler had gone off.We paid £115 plus £25 for our 2 dogs for one night and we felt like they obviously did not care. If they did care then they should be keeping the boiler on as we paid for a service. We were told there was an electric heater in the wardrobe. In the morning when we took our dogs out for a wee there was no lights outside the building and it was pitch black. They had turned all the lights off outside and in the carpark and we could not see a thing, this is a health and safety issue! I would recoomend bringing a torch! There was no hot water in the morning to have a wash so we ran the tap for 10 mins to make sure but still cold which was a waste of water. The breakfast was good and served hot which was the only good experience of the place.I will not be booking again as we were very dissapointed with the room, drafts from the window and no heating and hot water in the morning. When you arrive to your destination in winter, you expect to arrive in a lovely warm room.I suffer from arthritis and my room has to be warm.It was not exactly a cheap room, so I am very dissapointed.Looking back at some more reviews customers seem to have had the same problem. Not had a reply yet from the manager, which I was hoping for!Still waiting, unless they don't read their reviews of how people feel about their business.Would like to know please?

Warm & friendly atmosphere. Tasty & plentiful breakfast, lots of choice. Lovely staff. Ideal location to visit Kendal Town centre & Other tourist attractions. All in all, a wonderful weekend away. Could not fault anything. Thank you Gilpin Bridge Inn. 😊

Friendly staff, quick service at 14:00 on a Saturday but this could be covid related. Good selection of gin, 3 different tonics. Robinson Brewery public house. Ample parking, 2x blue badge spaces, outdoor tables. Large space, pool table, low ceilings, clean toilets, log burner. Basic / usual pub food but hot and tasty.

Wonderful staff and lovely food. We were served by Holly who was very accommodating with our food requests. We wanted the fish poached instead of beer battered and the chef was able to do this with no fuss. The pub has a small play area nearby, a perfect stop over for food on our way to Lake Windermere.

We enjoyed this place. The staff were great, food was spot on.My only criticism would be that our room was a bit small and tired and tatty. Our daughters room on the other hand was lovely! They allow dogs, which was great. It is a little bit out of Kendal, not far, but probably not your average walking distance.

Food was good. Prices are reasonable. Staff were friendly. Seating and tables are getting a little dated. Overall was a nice visit and would definitely return at some point.

We were pleased with both the service and the quality of food. My wife's roast beef ciabatta trumped by bacon and cheese on though. Proper rather than processed cheese would have put them neck and neck. Was doing good Saturday business well after 3pm due to enlightened weekend cooking hours.
