Got to be my favourite pub. Much cheaper and friendlier than any pub in Ambleside. plus the bartenders a legend. big up Chris. Could do with some more ales though!

Run by a very nice family, the guy behind the bar is attentive and friendly, the food is just what you want at the end of the day, nothing fancy but good classic food, views are stunning

Lovely location and excellent service. We always look forward to visiting this inn whenever we're in the lake district. We had an accident sometime back while on "The Struggle", and we ended up spending time here till the recovery car got here. tThe staff were really helpful and supportive.

Over many decades when visiting the 'Lakes' I have called into the Kirkstone Inn to take in the magestic panoramic views, eat fine food and enjoy well presented ales....however...on my latest visit, as indeed the previous one several months earlier it was closed at lunchtime. I am so disappointed that this establishment with such a long history of ambience & excellence has been allowed to deteriorate like this.

I wanted to visit because of the ghost stories associated with the inn - the bar attendee was so helpful to lend me a book detailing the grizzly events and even some photos of ghostly apparitions. Whether you believe or not, the whole atmosphere was homely and comfortable. We felt truly looked after and accommodated for. The food was wonderful, best I've had in a very long time. The whole evening was wonderful and warm, and I'm looking forward to returning again next time we're in the area. Thank you!

You can't beat the atmosphere of a lonely inn sitting between some of the most majestic sites in the lake district. Service was awesome, the people caring for us were even nice enough to get me a whole new bottle of whisky and allowed us to use the room past check out time.Rooms themselves were cozy and warm. Small, but that's to be expected. All necessary facilities were present. Would definitely return for winter, for instance.

Family run Inn sat in one of the most breath taking locations for drivers looking to stop for a rest, drink or bite to eat. Lovely friendly environment, great service, lots of fun and conversations between staff, locals and tourists too. Didn't see the rooms as we didn't stay the night but would highly recommend for a fun drive up if you take ' the struggle' ( don't do it in winter!)

Most amazing view. Couldn't think of anything better than having a cold beer after a long day of walking and looking at the hills. The barman was very pleasant and welcoming. The pub is 525 years old and its great to see it still being used.

Lovely little traditional British pub, how it should be. Had a home-made steak pie (which was filled to the brim!) chips and peas. Big plate and plenty for your money. Welcomed in by a really friendly lad on the bar who made me feel very welcome. All in, a place where you feel your money’s well spent!
