Dog friendly, treats dispensed by super efficient staff. Menu small but varied and very tasty. Would definitely recommend beef bourguignon and seafood spaghetti and sticky toffee pudding up there in the land of sticky toffee!

Very nice pub and nice meal.Better booking rather than just calling in.Cheeseboard was the only thing that wasn't that good.Had steaks for main meal very tasty.

We travelled from Arnside on a recommendation for the Pig and Whistle. Overall, our visit was pretty disappointing. We were pretty much ignored on arrival by the lady serving behind the bar. However, a young man emerged to take our reservation.There was little atmosphere where we were seated and the quality and quantity of food when it arrived was pretty poor.The one thing that was particularly pleasing was that our Dog was made welcome.

Lovely pub. Had a lovely meal while we was there. Was excellent. Will definitely call back next yr when we're staying in cartmel. A must 👌

Even though they were not serving food the Monday night, we went. We had an amazing time chatting to the locals and the two barmaids (Cat and Becky... I believe that was their names) Me and my partner had an amazing night and are sure to remember the laughs we had for many years to come. If we were staying in the lakes for longer, I am sure we would be visiting many more times. All in all great value for money, and they are very welcoming. Be sure to make a stop here if you are visiting.

Excellent all round. The team are super friendly and very efficient, the menu is simple but packs a punch. The only reason we've dropped a star is because some of the mussels in the seafood pasta didn't open and the rare steak was slightly overcooked. Overall it was a super experience and recommend anyone in the area to pop in and try a meal.

Great pub which has retained its village charm. A nice comfortable dining area coupled with an old fashioned bar/snug with open fire and good ales, makes for a cozy and boozy evening. Would come back.

Booked ahead for first night of our stay in Cartmel and liked it so much, we immediately booked it again for our last night. Great atmosphere, excellent food, very friendly staff. Menu wasn't too long, allowing the chef to do everything well - and s/he certainly did. Every item on the menu, including the excellent choice of veggie options, was enticing and our meals were delicious. And not expensive, either. Would heartily recommend.
