Staying in the sister guest house. Had a table booked at Table 22 for a Friday night. Turned up to find they have cancelled the reservation leaving us with nowhere to eat in Ambleside on a Friday night. Their response, we tried ringing you. Didnt leave a message though or try ringing again later! My voicemail is working perfectly fine! It's not easy to answer or hear your mobile when climbing up the last bit of Scafell Pike. Could even have left a message with their sister guest house to pass onto us where they must have got my mobile number from to begin with. Poor customer service!!!!

Spent three nights at the Regent Hotel just recently in March 2022. The hotel is nicely situated across the road from Lake Windermere. We were allocated rooms at the back of the hotel, which stood independently from the main hotel building. This gave us a very quiet location away from any road traffic noise. The rooms were spacious and nicely appointed with everything required provided like shower gel, tea and coffee and bottled water. It also had a very large TV screen on the wall and good Wi-Fi reception. The rooms were a nice temperature for sleeping and had a little balcony with a table and two chairs, which caught the sun in the evening as it faced west. One small point for anyone sleeping in Room 42, the room above, being the only one, has creaky floorboards! The main hotel was nicely decorated with several separate lounge areas to enjoy a drink either before or after dinner. We only had one evening meal at the hotel which everyone enjoyed, although the waiter forgot to bring the bottle of white wine with the red wine; then had to be asked twice for water for the table. However the staff were, overall, very friendly and helpful. The breakfast choice was good with fresh fruit, croissants and a choice of a cooked dish from the menu, although the staff failed to ask if we needed any top ups of tea. There was adequate free parking at the back of the hotel. The walk along the lakeside across the road was refreshing and Ambleside Town was a comfortable walk away with a good selection of pubs and eating places. The hotel was an ideal location to explore Lake Windermere and Lake Coniston. Being mid-March, it was busier than expected, but then we had blue skies and sunshine for the four days we were there, so lots of people visited the area earlier than usual. Parking could be a problem in places like Grasmere and Windermere.Overall we were very happy with our stay at the Regent Hotel and with the service and accommodation provided. We would happily book to stay there again, by which time the missing letter on the hotels name on the side of the building might be replaced!Well done and thank you to the Regent Hotel Team!

This is a hotel which is very well presented. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious, very clean and well portioned and presented.Great view out from room 42 through the trees looking out to lake.Breakfast was really good and well staffed for great service.Although we didn't ask for the room to be cleaned, it was anyway which was a nice surprise on our return. There's a nice selection of lounge space to sit in.Definitely worth a short or long stayAmbleside in easy walking distance and plenty of eateries. So 5 stars from meJust a very small note which I wouldn't take a star off the reviewI'm a old fashioned kind of person and like traditional food which this hotel doesn't serve.I would stay again as I love great service and been treated like the customer is king which is how I run my business. Thanks for a lovely couple of days ❤️😊

A nice hotel in a good location. The restaurant was lovely, very good for both dinner and breakfast. Only complaint was that the room was so hot (even with the heating off) we had to sleep with the window wide open...in January! There is air con but I find it tricky to sleep with it on. Mentioned to reception on checkout and they promised to investigate. All in all I'd stay again.

Only stayed one night but would definitely return. Lovely spacious room on the rear of the hotel and therefore away from any traffic noise. Restaurant currently only open to residents but a very good meal. The staff we spoke with were all friendly and helpful.
