What a great little pub. The staff were polite and very helpful. We had planned to eat at the Sun Inn on our first night but the restaurant was closed because the chef had tested positive with covid. One of the staff recommended another local restaurant and reserved us a table...we had a lovely meal at Plato's.We did eat breakfast at the Sun Inn and that was excellent.

Great location in the centre of town, very nice food and comfortable rooms. The staff were all really helpful and George was a pleasure to deal with.

Really friendly and helpful staff. There were cosy log fires from 7am until closure every day during our stay. Well equipped bedrooms with high quality eco-toiletries and Wi-fi TV and SONOS. Small menu at present, but food fabulous and staff very accommodating to meet individual dietary preferences. Will definitely return - lots of lovely walks nearby and pretty towns and villages to explore

Lovely comfortable and characterful rooms in gorgeous location. Restaurant was cosy and we enjoyed a delicious evening meal. Our room was a little warm, however a fan was provided.

Nice rooms, great location and attentive staff just let down by the general vibe from owners. Room was attractive. One large bed and one small bed. Small bed has been squeezed in but rest of room was well appointed. Quality of wardrobes and cabinets let it down slightly. Ate twice (would not have gone back second night but everywhere else was booked up). Food ingredients were of consistently good quality but much of it was weirdly bland and a lack of attention to detail at times (burnt edges etc). We had stayed here 6 or so yesterday s earlier and remembered the food being much better. Menu limited without being exciting and I fear that the rising quality of food in rest of the town has somewhat overtaken it. Breakfast was good except for the scrambled eggs which were overdone, poached eggs much better. Owners weren’t friendly, didn’t speak to us (how is the room? Etc) or give off the vibes you want from your innkeepers. Not sure whether it was me, my wife and two children they took an objection to or they are just like that all the time but was made to feel quite uncomfortable when for example we sat in the bar for half an hour before our supper reservation rather then going to the table (which was in the rather canteen and sterile room next door) early, lots of small things added up (very grumpy looks when me youngest popped in to use the loo in the bar when we walked past the hotel whilst out and about in town) and I’ve never had that feeling in a hotel before. Hands up that’s we were the awful guests that spilt some wine on the bed (we weren’t going wild but it was very crammed with the beds next to each other and my youngest knocked a glass with her book). We were told we had to pay an arbitrary fee which it was unclear whether this was a standard fee or because the sheets were new or because the owner was under the misconception that we had just run off (they had our luggage). Apparently we should have spoken to the housekeeping but no one had told us who housekeeping was and in fact none had told us who the owners of the hotel were we just guessed from the vibes. No objections to paying for our mistakes but the way it was handled and the tone in which they spoke to us was symptomatic of the general air of misery that pervaded over the hotel customer service - just very weird, and ended up with me asking them to email me proof they had needed to get someone special in to fix the pillows or whatever they were suggesting was needed. I wouldn’t normally react like that but they made me incredibly sad and suspicious. Not sure that I’d recommend it to families as they just didn’t seem set up at all to be flexible or to adapt to customers.

We were staying at another hotel and their dining looked poor so we set out to find an alternative. The Sun Inn had one remaining table and it seemed to be the only option for dinner but our luck was in as this turned out to be one of the best meals we had during our week long holiday. Great food and wine, friendly service and good value.
