Called in for coffee and cake mid afternoon. The flat white was so good we both had a second cup. The cakes were good especially the vanilla slice. The waiter was really pleasant he even told us of a nearby church where the grounds had a lovely show of daffodils. The cooked dishes that we saw looked good. Will visit again.

Takeaway hot cross donut and slice of apple pie. Both delicious. The apple pie was light, great buttery pastry, and good portion size. The donut had a nice crisp outside and inside was light and very flavoursome - I wish more places did hit cross donuts!

BEST sausage roll I've ever had!!!!!! Desserts are great too. Price is very reasonable for the Lake District. The breakfast is one price and large. Definitely worth going for breakfast or just a snack.

Delicious, homemade bakery, best in Ambleside! The hot cross buns are a winner, and their selection of treats was out of this world. Their cafe and takeout section are separate and could be a bit confusing, but it's easy to figure out once you're there.

A friendly welcome and a run down of where the facilities were and how ordering worked, given the option of traditional menus or QR code menus and even asked if our dog would be OK seated next to another dog. A brilliant touch of customer service from the greeter!Once inside sat near the roaring fire, we ordered sandwiches and coffees from a very friendly waiter. Both sandwich and coffee were top quality and very reasonably priced. We popped into the takeaway bakery at the front for a slice of the famous apple pie (spiced) and some other treats to take back to the hotel.Top service, fresh and tasty food, keep it up folks 👍

Guy outside on the door was nice and showed us to a table just inside the door, but unfortunately their policy is to have the door wedged open for ventilation, making it cold in that main section. We asked to be moved and so did another table but the “didn’t have that other section open” how weird!! Then after we came out there was a huge queue of people waiting, even though they could probably have all sat down if the “other section” was open. Staff not particularly friendly, dogs are allowed which is a bonus and we didn’t eat which frankly I’m happy not giving any more to them than just a drink because it was freezing so wouldn’t have been a pleasant experience!

Lovely little tea room with some absolutely delicious apple pie! Went here twice in two days it was that nice.Only 4 stars due to the cafe adding on a 5% charge on top of your bill. They say you can ask for this to be removed but they know most people don't want the embarrassment of doing this so won't. Just put a bad taste in my mouth when I'm paying full price anyway.

We went today for a coffee and cake and thought it was excellent! I had a hot chocolate it it was very smooth and nice along with some amazing CREAM! I also had a brownie with a superb ice cream which was great! Our overall experience was an amazing day! We will definitely visit again! 👍🍰☕️

Friendly staff, nice environment, good coffee and flipping delicious cakes!! Best apple pie we've had for ages! Our group had 5 various cakes and 6 drinks and it came to just over £40 which I don't think is too bad value, given their yumminess!

This is a nice place. The gingerbread latte was very nice, and the coconut latte was okay too. The Cornish pasty was nice, and the Cumberland hot dog was good, although difficult to eat without a knife and fork. The chips were fresh too. The tables are clearly very well used, as they have plenty of mug stains on them. This cafe also adds a 5% service charge, which is unusual outside of London, but the menu explains that you can ask for this to be removed without any awkwardness. The place was quite busy when we were there, and for some reason the shop is roped off from the cafe, and you have to use a separate door - despite the two being connected. However, the staff seemed friendly enough, and it was relatively cheap for lunch. I would consider coming back here if I was passing, and I was happy to leave the service charge on. This place is also dog friendly, which is good if you’re a dog owner.
