getofthechair.comBeen many times walking up to the monument, but never knew about this place. Friend show me and I have to say it is so nice and calm place to sit down after or before walk and have a nice coffee, cake or lunch. The place is run by volunteers, there is communal garden with vegetables, at the summer time there is outside Yoga at the terrace on top of the cafe. Very nice place to relax and have a nice meal.Got to late this time to try the full English breakfast - instead I went with beautiful cheese scone :) and very tasty beef burger (took while to arrive but you can not rush the good food - it need to be done right) which arrive super hot (warm) with all ingredients fresh and delicious, locally sourced.Yes, I definitely will come back and stop for another meal if I will be near by, and yes, this is place worth to be recommended, and worth to visit.

Celebrated my Dad's 80th here last night. Friendly staff helped create a lovely atmosphere. Great meal and fabulous service. They didn't even mind our singing and dancing. Thank you 😊

Situated in a lovely spot next to the working gardens, overlooking the town and in the shadow of Hoad hill & its monument this friendly cafe serves a good variety of drink and food at reasonable prices. There are parking places close by too.

Excellent value for lovely freshly-made food. Stopped off for lunch here after a walk up the Hoad and very glad we did. Sandwiches took a little while to arrive but well worth the wait.

Always an excellent lunch. Various specials on the board and both a vegetarian and gluten free menu as well as staples such as sandwiches, salads and burger of the day. I like that they shop locally when possible. They are dog-friendly. The coffee is good too and it's all very reasonably priced.

I visit here often and yesterday went for the Mothers day 3 course meal which was even more than what we all expected, beautifully cooked/presented as always. Lovely set table upon arrival with added daffodils and 2 highchairs already at the table which we had previously asked for. We were friendly greeted as always by the lovely staff. Very good price for the 3 courses which all of us cleared our plates and left in good spirits with full tummys. They cater for vegetarians, gluten and dairy intolerance and they allow well behaved dogs in the side part to the cafe along with providing toys for children. What more could you want for a local cafe =)

Nice food in a nice location. The interior can feel a little soulless sometimes but sitting outside on a nice day is lovely. They have their own cottage garden which you can walk around and they use the produce in their cooking.

We stopped by after a walk and both chose the corned beef hash, served with crispy bacon, slow roasted tomatoes, and a fried duck eggs, which we both found absolutely delicious.Bonus points for being dog friendly, and for the lovely member of staff who came give our dog a treat! We will certainly be back.
