Great place to sit on a glorious day. Even a grey day would be nice. friendly staff. Wanted to stay longer but had to get the ferry back.

Great service and the food is excellent and well priced. Dog friendly and be prepared to have your dogs photo taken for the wall. Definitely worth it 😋😋😋

Nice location by the stream and pleasant counter staff but very unimaginative menu - coleslaw with everything and for a vegetarian or vegan very limited choice. I was unable to find anything tolerable. Even the soup had bacon in! How about some healthy salads rather than sandwiches, toasted sandwiches andpaninis all served with the inevitable cheap coleslaw? I just had a beer and went hungry. I could have had a cheese and pickle sandwich but not at those prices….

A bit pricy but this is Ambleside. Dog friendly and nice staff. Food was excellent. We had soup and cheese scones. All home made and delicious. Coffee very vice too.

They have lovely chai and the cheese scones are great. The staff were lovely and very diligent, the positioning of the cafe itself is great because it's a little out of the way so it's not as packed as the others around but still right next to the river!

AVOID! I have never experienced such rude staff! Walked up the path and stood outside of the café door waiting for my wife before heading in for coffee and a snack when this member of staff marched up to me and demanded rudely, "can I help you?". I answered no thanks, and that i was waiting for my wife. His reply startled me........"well you can't wait here, it's private property!". I looked around and saw there was nobody else there. I simply pointed out that they might want to alter their approach as people clearly had to pass over their "private property" in order to get to the café door. The fact the everyone else was avoiding it told me I wasn't the first to encounter such rudeness....and I can see there are other reviews stating such. TOP TIP: go to Apple Pie Café & Bakery....far, far better! Great staff, great coffee, great freshly made snacks & pies!

Food menu is really good, great choice of breakfast and lunch options. We had a lovely gluten free cake which was really tasty! Outdoors you can enjoy the sound of the river flowing nearby which is nice. Few tables inside which felt a little compact to me, white walls, little to look at. Toilet is a little wooden outhouse.

Great cafe. Husband had 🍅& basil soup with a cheese scone. I had the best Lemon Drizzle Cake ever!! We both enjoyed our lunch. Staff very friendly

It's rare that I bother to review but the outstanding friendly service while extremely busy must be recognized. Only had coffee and cake but they were lovely!

Lovely helpful staff who showed us to a table in the large outside garden. Service was leisurely but they were busy and we were not in a hurry. Very good sandwiches with a great side salad in a little bowl and tasty coleslaw. Good value for a tourist hot spot. Felt very safe and a nice place to relax after a long walk.
