Just got home from a very disappointing evening,We had sea base , which was nice , but the service was non existent.Once our main plates had been taken , we were not asked about a dessert, we watched as we tried to get contact with 3 waiters but we were ignored. So we asked for the bill , so we never had dessert , coffee more drinks , very dissatisfied with the service or lack of it .

Wouldn’t Recommend. The tables were too small and too close together it felt like we were sat in a school dining hall. We were not told of any specials yet we heard every other table get told of the specials on I offer, we didn’t get offered anymore drinks once seated so my partner had no drink through his whole meal. We had bread on the table to start which was dry, I had the chicken liver parfait this dish was overpoweringly salty to the point where I couldn’t eat it. For mains the Lamb which was supposed to be served pink was over cooked. The Arrabiata pasta was described as a homemade spicy tomato sauce, there was no spice at all it was awfully bland and tasted simply like tinned tomatoes and pasta. The food is expensive for what it’s was and poor We would not return.

Lovely Sunday roast. Copious food served family style [for four]. Especially good were the parsnips. But taters and Yorkshire pudding good too. Come hungry. Good selection of wines by the glass as well. Friendly service.

The Lamplighter is pleasant, but not outstanding. The quality of the beef burger was ‘slightly’ pulled and the flavour was non existent. The chicken dish I had was lovely and the gravy tasty. The white wine was room temperature and we had to ask for some ice. The coffee was tasteless. Will not be returning.

Just returned from a 2 night stay at this lovely 'Gem' of a hotel.Close proximity to Windermere Station and all that Windermere has to offer. The hotel is human friendly and pet friendly! Our room & bathroom were spotless and well equipped with all that's required.Good choice of delicous breakfast options served by a lovely young lady, where nothing was too much trouble. We also had dinner in the hotel restaurant. That too had a good choice of varied meals, wines and cocktails. My husband had seabass, I had a chicken wrapped in bacon with accompaniments. Well presented and equally delicious xx generous portions, which were welcomed after a busy day walking!Faultless, friendly and fab food!Thank you to all the Team at Lamplighters. We'll be back! X

Dining room was lovely, staff lovely and very helpful.Ordered the catch of the day, Sea bass, filleted in lemon and butter sauce with chunky chips and mushy peas, Chips where so dry! Not much taste in the sauce, another meal was the Lamplighter burger, again soo dry she couldnt finish it also ordered a second drink which never came.May have caught them off guard as they fitted us in last min and but they where very helpful and the place it's self lovely

A lovely evening meal here, good service, well laid tables, felt special. The veggie options were appreciated and the smoked brie lovely. The pasta could have been a little more al dente and the amount was so large was it was a little off putting! But would certainly visit again.

Had the fish of the day (Sea bass) with chips and house salad. Very accommodating, they did it just grilled without butter for as I'm lactose intolerant. Came really quickly, piping hot and was very full after!

Beautiful room, lively welcome. Food was delicious I had the lamb and it was melt in the mouth soft, served with puree carrots and mash...was missing a crunch texture but I still enjoyed it. hubby had suet pudding, he said it was lovely.

We had the New Year Dinner here and the food and service was excellent. There were crackers on the table and a large number of diners. The main improvement would be more festive music to add a seasonal vibe. The ambiance was lacking and it could have been any night of the year apart from the decorations. Staff were polite and friendly and plentiful. We could also see directly into the kitchen through the window in the link door and I would suggest at least an opaque cover so you can see if someone is coming through but not the activity in the kitchen. If you enjoy very tasty food I would recommend this place.
