Mostly superb courses let down at the end by a nice but not exceptional dessert and a mistake in being almost pushed into ordering the cheese board… which lacked something savoury to balance….and which we were looking forward to to balance the previous dessert. However, would we recommend: yes, would we go again: yes. Enjoyed the wine pairing.

Lovely restaurant in the heart the Lakes. Excellent food served by a great team in a nice relaxed atmosphere. Highlights for me were the potted shrimp in a delightful sauce and the perfectly cooked venison.

Lovely experience with the tasting menu for lunch today. At a Michelin starred restaurant you go in expecting great food. What really made it here was the great staff who add to the relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere.

The lunch time taster menu is lovely. The courses were explained and tasted delicious. £45 the wine started at £7:50 a glass

The food here is outstanding throughout the tasting menu (the beetroot meringue and the trout were our favourite). The personal notes from the chef was insightful and really enhanced the experience. The service is professional and attentive, but still remains warm & friendly. This has been a highlight of our Lake District trip, and the restaurant definitely deserves its Michelin star.

Food: The food is exceptional numerous courses on the tasting menu on the Saturday evening.Restaurant: Very tired inside and out , almost tatty.Service: The fantastic food let down by front of house, no sommelia to assist with wine choice as you would expect with a Michelin restaurant and the brother who handles this attitude when I said I wasn't keen on having the black pudding or liver was.. oh have it it's only a small bite.. only when I insisted I didn't want it he offered the vegan alternative.Atmosphere: It was a shame that we had the loud mouthed chavs on the table next to us which rather drowned out our conversation for most of the evening. As it was nearly 4 hours by the time we left it felt a bit like an endurance by the end .Summary: Although the single most important key ingredient has to be the food which The Old Stamp House excels at , the experience was sadly let down by the other factors as mentioned.

The food here is quite frankly astonishing. We celebrated my wife's 40th birthday here and we wanted a suitably special occasion and was not disappointed. I'm a vegetarian and the tasting menu was amazing. The service, ingredients and presentation were second to none. We opted to have the optional cheese course with a well matched Port. Delicious! This is high end dining, so expect to pay a premium for this; but it's so worth it At the moment, the number of diners have been limited due to Covid restrictions so book WELL in advance. You won't regret it! 😊

This restaurant is an amazing place to eat. My husband and I ate here on our vacation and were absolutely amazed by the quality of the food. It is on the pricier side, but worth the money. Totally recommend doing the full course dinner with a wine pairing. Cheers!
