The Plough Inn in South Lakeland

Popped in here for a quick bite to eat to break up our journey from the lake district to the Yorkshire dales. The food was excellent as was the service and it was very reasonably priced too. If you want good pub food, come here.

We stayed overnight to break up a journey. THE "Standard" room was far above standard. Beautiful clean spacious room and bathroom ,all high quality finish, generous tea /coffee /biscuitsupplies . Great service in the bar/restaurant. A Perfect full English breakfast . AND dog friendlly

Such a brilliant pub and a blueprint for pubs across the land. We’ve stayed here three times now and had a marvellous stay on each occasion. The rooms are great, the staff lovely, and the food is top drawer too.

Stopped for a bite to eat on our way home from a visit to the Lakes.Served by lovely staff in pleasant surroundings.The food was good - I had the mudboard burger which was huge but tasted great.Would certainly thinks about eating there again.

Nice restaurant and friendly staff, but average food, cooked averagely well. Surprised to hear that they can’t do a bowl of pasta with butter… the pasta is ‘pre-portioned with sauces’ apparently. It is the first time I’ve been to a restaurant that doesn’t have pasta to cook. The adult starters and mains were just okay, but the desserts were good. However there are many better places to eat in the area.

We stopped overnight at the Plough Inn with our motorhome which is allowed if you purchase food and drink. We telephoned ahead to make sure it was ok and Paul was extremely accommodating. The food and service were excellent. A beautiful old pub with rooms. We will definitely be visiting again

Well Over priced for the quality of food….Poor poor food! definitely not worth the price we was a party of 4 and only 1 of us was happy with the food 3 of us never ate our meals nobody did a table check and when paying the bill we said how bad the food was obviously because we didn’t eat it and all we got was a oh sorry….. we will never go back now and it was a quite Tuesday afternoon

Superb food, immaculately clean, excellent staff. Highly recommended.We stopped in our motorhome overnight (they allow it, but ask first). Brilliant, 4 miles from M6.

The Plough was absolutely lovely. The food was ten fold better than can be expected at an average pub.We enjoyed our lunch there on a typical weekday, and the atmosphere was still great.The staff were helpful and on hand, and the service was prompt. The fish and chips was crisp and well-battered, and the range of drinks was great.Totally recommend a visit - not far off the M6 and in a lovely spot of countryside.

We visited just before Christmas and as usual it was a warm and friendly atmosphere. The fires were lit and the Christmas decorations looked very good. The pub was busy and vibrant. We only called in for drinks and didn’t eat this time, but the food coming out of the kitchen looked very good.
