We had to book weeks in advance for this Pub and had a bit of an inconvenient time so we were sort of accepting it was busy/limited places/small village etc and that was it. However now we know why!! What AMAZING food. Not pub fayre but high quality beautifully prepared and presented dishes which were reasonably priced too. PLUS great staff good service.BOOK IN ADVANCE! So worth it.

Great food, friendly staff. We visited as a party of 5, everyone left happy.Amongst the dishes eaten were: Pizza, fish and chips, Welsh Rarebit, Hot Salmon Niçoise salad, fish finger sandwich, no complaints from anyone.Well worth a visit, provided you can snag a table of course, may prove difficult in high season.

Stayed for two nights. The bedrooms don't have the same character as the lovely old pub and ours needed revamp. However, staff hardworking and helpful and breakfast couldn't be faulted

Great service for walking through the door when we arrived to when we left. Prompt service. Fair price. Varied menu. Delicious piping hot food. We had 3x pie and chips + 1x children's burger and chips. All delicious. No puds as too full! Hit choc and coffee nice and hot. Well done all. Will call againmlatwr I the year when we are back

What a gorgeous place hawkshead is, lovely clean room at the Queens head and lovely bar area.Found the parking a bit of a faff especially when arriving and it's throwing down with rain. My husband was expecting more from the food, as he found the beef very chewy and Yorkshire pudding very over cooked. Wasn't offered any toast with breakfast on the first morning, but table next to us was. Overall still a beautiful area, will definitely be back but maybe not stopping at the Queens head.

Lovely hotel, nice food, nice setting, the building is full of character and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Location is great too, Hawkshead is a nice quiet place with no cars allowed through the village, which is something I liked the idea of, and it's not too far from Windermere. Would recommend a stay here.

A fantastic pub,no need to book just walk in. Excellent beer and food, fully intended to have a pizza, however,i was drawn to steak and ale pie. So glad i chose it the best pie ever in my opinion, also came with a jug of gravy, nice touch. Food is excellent.

We have eaten here in number of times and always found it very good. However we did find the bill to be a little bit on the expensive side this time. I only had pizza and my wife had a standard pub meal and the bill was approaching £100. Nevertheless the food was very good, the atmosphere was great and the place was packed.

Our favourite pub in Hawkshead BY FAR 👌👌 Excellent service by the (always) friendly staff. Tables are routinely cleaned between customers. Drinks served all day. Food from 5pm every evening. Cozy fire and festive decorations for Christmas 🎄🎅

And to top it dog friendly. Hawkshead is luck to have a gem of a place in the heart of is village. We will definitely be back. Dan
