Was staying at Grange over Sands with my wife in a lovely BandB in Windermere Road . After a search of local restaurants and public houses in the area came across the Royal Oak pub in Lindale and we decided to go there . Was a long arduous walk up the Windermere road to get there along the steep winding direct route but was well worth it. Even though we hadn't booked in advance for a meal the landlord was superb in helping us get a table and all the staff there were very friendly and welcoming. Our food was great and the selection of local beers excellent. Lovely friendly atmosphere in the pub with nice period style decor. Excellent pub and very highly recommended

Lovely food, well cooked. Excellent service. Tips need to be in cash which is a shame, because we didn't have any and the staff definitely deserved one.

Do not eat here the pub itself was nicely kept but the landlord had clearly got a problem even after covid. We had visited the pub at 4pm and asked bar staff when the pub took orders for meals - 5pm. We went inside T 4.45 and was told by the landlord to give order at 5pm which we did. Two other diners came in after and gave their orders. We got served our meal at 5.45 - it took 3/4 hour to deliver fish snd chips snd pork wellington - I have worked at a pub and cooked pub food and know it does not take this long to cook. Hence my pork wellington was not even warm but the fact that we had waited so long and was hungry ate it. When we came to pay and mentioned this to the bar staff she said they will pass it on to the chef - not good enough they should have at least reduced the bill etc. if this does not get printed it says it all.

Did well with a large group of us And the food we had was Great. Could have seen greater choice on the menus. But a good experience none the less.

We ate at the Royal Oak recently; we were very impressed by the great service and food. The tables were beautifully decorated. Service fast and efficient. I had the scallops and the pork wellington - excellent. Good quality beer too

A few visits to this lovely little pub in Lindale, Cumbria whilst on holiday. Staff are professional and friendly and the food is fabulous to boot

Everything you would hope for after a good day of hiking in the Lake District: warm and cosy interior, lovely garden, great house wine and delicious food! The baked Brie was amazing (but a bit small alas!), and we love both the fish and chips and the lamb!

The quality of the food for the vegetarian option was very good but my mate was really disappointed with his, dry and semi cooked. Good parking here and quite nice to sit out on a sunny day. Good stop after the Cartmel Races. I thought for the price this was a good venue.

We had a very good meal at this pub last night. The food was excellent and served as though it was just cooked for us. It was almost certainly made from local produce and came a short time after ordering but without making us feel rushed. There is a good sized car park at the back and you can eat and drink outside. Booking is essential particularly at weekends.

I absolutely love this pub, the staff are friendly, the atmosphere is welcoming and the food is good. We visit The Royal Oak around 5 times a year. Mostly birthday and other celebrations. The staff here are always happy to accommodate us, and are always very attentive. We definitely will be back.
