The Shakespeare Inn in South Lakeland

Ate here twice. Really friendly service. Drinks good. Had Kleftiko twice. Lovely. Fell off the bone.

Perfectly clean,extremely friendly,brilliant food & probably the most comfy bed I've ever slept in! 1 small criticism:can you make the Baklava portion smaller, I couldn't eat it all!😂. Seriously though,stay there! Many thanks to the team & if i end up in the area again I'll be staying with you!

Our second visit and it won't be our last! Lovely clean rooms with comfortable beds. Everything you need for a peaceful stay. Perfect! The food is outstanding and the wild mushroom risotto was amazing. All the staff we met during our stay were super friendly, knowledgeable and polite. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone smiled and made you feel valued and so welcome. Abbie was awesome and a total credit to The Shakespeare Inn and is a shining example of excellent customer service. Thank you for a lovely stay. Liz and Terry

What a fantastic place to eat. Dog friendly (extra chips for the dogs) very friendly and helpful staff, couldn’t do enough for us. Not had that level of customer service for a very long time. Food was excellent and great atmosphere, highly recommend. Will be visiting again soon.

New staff, new menu, bad attitude. Unfortunately our order was incorrect. Was thrown all excuses about the menu being wrongly printed the new staff should have told you when you ordered, etc etc. Surely a menu is proof read before being put in to print. And when you did magically produce the missing items the food was cold. Then on deciding to leave as the confrontational attitude of the young lady in charge was again upsetting...insisting we paid for what was cold and inedible. That was the final straw...yes we paid for our drinks but no way were we paying for food that was wrong.We were told if anything is wrong to bring it to your attention...but last night we were both made to feel upset and a nuisance for raising a valid issue.Such a shame because we have had good food and a lovely warm and really good food in the past.Tarnished what was up to then a lovely anniversary.

Very small food portions. I got 6 chunky chips with my fish and chips. Also, there was a bad smell inside the pub. Kind of like dirty socks. Otherwise, nice and cold beer and very friendly staff.

Beautiful friendly staff, couldn't have been more accommodating. The food was exactly what we wanted. Fabulous accidental find!

Fantastic Pub with lots of History and great local Cask Real Ales. Food menu looked very nice and the downstairs drinking vault with large Sports theme TV for all Sports was a real Winner for me

The cleanness was fantastic, the staff were so lovely nothing was to much trouble. The food was to a very high standard and was as tasty as it was presented. Just a perfect place to stay we will definitely be back.
