The Snooty Fox in South Lakeland

The menu doesn’t offer much of a selection if you are vegetarian and Gluten free. I ended up having just chips and salad. On the upside the barman was really nice and as accommodating as he could be under the circumstances. 🙄

Eventually got served a drink after the Bar tender was flushing the pipes and complaining it hadn’t been done whilst he was on days off ! Ordered our food , first choice of lasagna was off , so chose another pasta dish , 45 minutes later told that was off too so chose a salad ! An hour later was given a free drink for our wait ! The pub wasn’t busy by the way ! But obviously too much for the 4 staff we could see !Then later still waiting we were told not long now ! Then after another 30 minutes we decided to leave because our car parking of two hours was up !We got a refund, very annoyed we wasted 2 hours of our time and still got no food ! Obviously The Chef couldn’t cope and was out of his depth they would have been better closing the kitchen and not wasting everyone’s time . Staff and customers were left very frustrated! Get your act together, employ staff that can do the job !!

Food was amazing, and the service was great despite the fact we had to wait some time, as they did get a mad rush, which they apologised for. Nice garden with plants and wildlife so 5 stars 🌟 always from me. Thanks guys we will be back. Xx

I tried to have a drink at the pub on Saturday evening at 11:30. To be told by the landlord we are closed. I said you are advertising on you chalk board right next to you open from 12:00-01:00. He just laughed at myself and my wife in a very condescending manner stating just because it’s written down doesn’t mean it’s true. Then just slammed the door and locked it with customers inside.I don’t usually write reviews or complain but the business manager/landlord had no reason to be rude to myself or my wife and don’t advertise a time of business on the building front door then close 2hrs early. We are a visiting couple to the town not locals who know the local information just treat people how you would like to be treated.

Popped in, for a drink, after a long walk. First impressions: lovely pub, with character. Staff very friendly. Didn't eat there so no idea about the food. Certainly a good place for drinks, only

Booked a room day of. On booking.com their closing hour is 23:00 but no one was there to check me in. They claim that everyone leaves by 21:30. When I tried to call them to get a refund they refused and tried to keep my money.

We had the Sunday dinner and the service was great. Extra potatoes and Yorkshire puddings if requested.Very dog friendly as well.

Fantastic staff, more than happy to help us, to say this pub as only just re-opened it was brilliant, food is amazing and must visit if your in the area.

I visited here last night and will never return again. This was the first pub we visited. I have never been so disgusted and spoken to in the manner by the young woman with long brown hair behind the bar in all my life. I asked for a straw after being served and was spoken to like a piece if dog dirt on someone's shoe. She did the same to the couple who we was served before us. After speaking to other locals they confirmed that she is vile to everyone and not liked. She should not work in a bar like that again. I will now cancel my future hotel reservations and will be complaining to the tourist board. Thank you for ruining my birthday and trip to kirkby Lonsdale.Avoid this pub at all costs.

After a bad experience at the hotel over the road, we decided to nip across to this place. What a difference, despite being reasonably busy we were attended to within minutes, had placed an order and had been brought our drinks whilst we waited. Very quickly our food arrived, great service,lovely food and the staff are wonderful.
