This is an amazing pub/restaurant.The food is incredible! I had the burger with chips and a brownie with ice cream for pudding. The burger was only £16 yet was up there with some of the top restaurants I've been too.My dad was the only one of us to have a starter. He had shrimp. But a great touch was the toasted lemon. Because it was warm it didn't cool them. Such a great idea. All 4 of us were amazed at the quality of food we got. It's very rare to get both quality and quantity at a reasonable price. But this place delivered.I'd highly recommend it to anyone.

Only went in for quick drink, man behind bar was helpful and pleasant decided have a quick look at menu. We ordered a couple meals which were lush especially the home made steak pie which was brimming in lean steak ,mushrooms and ale gravy. Also the red cabbage that come with it was done in a buttery tangy juice it was mmmmm. We had a couple puds ,sticky toffee a huge portion with a warm spice sauce and a cheesecake to die for. I followed it off with an Irish coffee and fresh cream . The place started filling as we left. The lad behind bar was great, deffo a foreigner nothing to much bother. Also well done the chef that night. Couldn't fault his food ....

Everything Spot on, smooth check in, food very good. Room we were in was very good. Only down side was road noise as bedroom at front on building. But wouldn't stop us returning. Well used by locals which is good to see.

Excellent bar and food, - rooms look recently refurbished, and even I couldn't fault anything.Wouldn't hesitate to stop there again for an overnight. A busy, well-run, country hotel.

Cannot recommend this hidden gem enough. Booked and arrived very last minute. Ample car parking. Welcomed and shown to our room by friendly, helpful staff who also carried our bags. Room was large, clean and well decorated. Bathroom was very clean and spacious. Only issues with the room was that there was no mirror to do hair/makeup. There was one in the bathroom but was unsuitable. The room was situated at the front which meant traffic noise all night from HGVs however bed was exceptionally comfortable and blackout blinds worked well. The atmosphere in the dog friendly bar was lovely. Bar staff were superb. Got chatting to lots of friendly locals. Breakfast was outstanding. Service was excellent. Cannot fault staff on anything. Will definitely return.

Popped in for refreshments after a walk around the area. Lovey pub, clean & contemporary & the lady that served us was really lovely & a credit to the business. The cheddar dog biscuits were a big hit & went down a treat! 😉

This was our second stay here at The Tavern, HaleIt was excellent again, the food was great, the newly appointed Manager, Nathan was so helpful and extremely courteous to all of his guests and customers. A fabulous place to stay for a break in the long journey up to Scotland. The guest rooms are very nice indeed. There are also some lovely picturesque walks close by, its a must to stay here.

Stopped off for some lunch en route to our holiday destination in the Lakes. Nice place, unfortunately they weren't serving light lunches (sandwiches, etc) so we didn't stay. They did say they were starting up lunches very soon though, so just unfortunate timing on this occasion!

Really tasty food and large portion sizes! Lovely staff. Looks like it's recently been renovated, very fresh but also cosy. Will definitely visit again if I'm in the area!
