Loved it. Quaint but a proper pub. Friendly staff and cosy decor. Lots of dogs, which is always a plus.

Traditional pub with pleasant ambiance. Good selection of drinks at a reasonable price point. Didn't eat but food looked nice with a decent sized menu. Only criticism was the unfriendly barmaid.

No frills-locals-geezer pub for the working man/woman. Various horse-related ornaments furnishing the walls. Local ales on tap, good value. Footie on the telly. Quiz machine too!

Lovely pub right in the centre of Ambleside, we stayed here for 3 nights. Very lively with delicious home cooked food, very welcoming and a great atmosphere, would definitely stay here again.

Food was okay my scampi and chips were good but the cannelloni had too much sauce and not much of anything else. So is okay for a quick meal but nothing to rave about. Staff were friendly and the locals were lovely and welcoming.

Not enough staff , only one gentleman working run off his feet . We waited 10-15 mins , the pub was starting to get busy everyone sitting waiting . We gave up as knew it was going to be along wait . Shame really as pub looked lovely .

Really enjoy our stay Staff we're very accommodating. Couldn't really see why there wasn't a breakfast option? As we had a lovely meal the night before . I know there's a lot going on at the moment (COVID-19) but if you can serve food at night why not a breakfast in the morning????

Love this little pub.We visit every time we're in Ambleside. The Hungarian Meatballs are just yummy. Also, steak and ale pie 😋 😋

A totally fantastic place to both eat and drink. Great well kept beers with lovely friendly staff and absolutely amazing food. It's a must for everyone who visits Ambleside. Try the homemade meat balls. They are absolutely beautiful. Made from an 150yr old recipe passed down over the years i believe. Can not fault the place.
