White Horse Inn in South Lakeland

My son describes this as '1000000 good'. The meals are delicious and huge portions. We tried a number of place on the way but thankfully they were all full as we landed on one of the best meals we've had for ages

Took a visit after a trip up Blencathra yesterday.Warm welcome with a roaring fire and friendly staff. Had a nice pint or 2 with friends, enjoyed the setting n views. All in all a friendly welcoming pub. Will be returning. Ps dog was someone else's that couldn't take its eyes off my friend through the window.

Loved the place. (Stayed in the cottage 22 strides away). Tasty real ales, splendid lunchtime sandwiches, dinner menu was excellent, open fires, great service from Ileane and staff. A proper dog friendly pub.

Great place for a pub meal. Wonderfully dog friendly (we didn't have one) and smiley, chatty bar staff. Nice beer too! Apparently chardonnay was okay too! Wonders will never cease......

We came back for the 3rd time in 6 years and was not dissapointed... The service was fabulous and nothing was too much trouble and the food was outstanding. Thank you at the white horse for a marvellous dining experience and the doggy bag as we really could not eat it all...

Great bunkhouse that’s so affordable! Has all the facilities you could need! And is right at the start for Blencathtra! The food at the pub was fantastic and they have great vegan and veggie options! Cannot fault! Will definitely come back!

Last time i was in the pub was about three years ago. Used to be a lovely country pub full of character, but it's now awful. One of those overly bright bars with mirrors everywhere. All the charm has been taken out of the place. Very sterile atmosphere, no music. They were mopping up at half past nine. Made us feel like we weren't welcome in there. In a pub. On a saturday night.

Great place , bit basic but it's all I needed great views have booked for next year again , he start to climb Blencathra is right by the huts too 👌

Pleasent calm well decorated place with very kind helpful staff. The food was flippin hot.. Something I am unused too in life. The scampi was the first tiem I eaten scampi and said wow now I know why people like this. It was cooked just right. Not all chewy like I'm used to in life. Tea was piping hot. Well worth a visit. Cost about £24 for scampi chips side salad cup tea and a lovely desert. Perfect. O and free WiFi. No phone signal on virgin up there..
