Came on short break. Whole hotel could do with upgrading.Bedding lovely and clean, though fingerprints and dust all around the surfaces. Bathroom clean but not exceptional. Shower trickles cold then lukewarm water- control doesn't work, luckily bath works fine. Breakfast is a joke. No bacon yesterday or mushrooms and tomatoes. Today no sausages or tomatoes. Waitresses keep having to be asked for top ups of breads, juices. Coffee machine only lets you have white coffee or espresso or hot water for tea. Only decent staff members are on reception. Will certainly not be back.

The hotel is very dull & lifeless and could do with updating. We checked in on a Sunday & we’re greeted by a female receptionist who was excellent. Polite, well mannered & extremely efficient. We were only staying one night but they tucked us away in at the furthest point from the main entrance! We had a late lunch in the bar area which overlooked the river and ordered sandwiches along with pots of tea. The young lady taking our order & the waitress who brought it both looked unhappy & neither smiled once. Our ham & tomato sandwiches came minus the tomato & our side order of fries only came after we reminded the staff that they hadn’t brought them. We then asked for cutlery which soon arrived. We then also asked for salt & vinegar, when the fries arrived, which also came without a smile. Nothing was offered, we had to ask for things which should be brought automatically. The food was fine. Our room was a decent size but the quilt cover had a 3 inch tear in it & the toilet had a couple of long hairs on the rim. The most disturbing thing was the shower bath. As I went to take a shower I noticed that shower gel, from the dispenser over the bath, had been squirted into the bath itself, and a fair amount as well. Anyone who stepped into the bath without spotting it would undoubtedly have slipped, and I had to clean it away before I felt it was safe enough to use. I also put the rubber shower mat down. It showed poor housekeeping. The bed was very comfortable & the linen nice & fresh.

The room was nice, maybe a little worn but clean and had a nice view of the river. We had drinks and food and while the prices were what I'd consider a bit steep, a g&t did not cost us ÂŁ17! I suggest checking the drinks list carefully if cost is an issue. The food we had was good quality. Enjoyed the breakfast and there was plenty of choice. All the staff we met were pleasant and helpful.

Nice hotel, friendly staff, rooms big but slightly dated but they are clean with all amenities you would expect.Restaurant had limited menu that I thought was a little pricey, breakfast was good but busy.Location is great for access to motorway but hotel sits next to a major roundabout outside of Preston so you will need a car or taxi if you want to go out at night.

Everything was going so well, room looked ok for the price a little mould in the shower and the water is a slow draining…evening meal was lovely the service was good. But that’s where the positive ends!… I was itching and had a tight chest all night I was unsure what was causing the irritation… then in the morning I realised I was in a dog friendly room, annoyed at not being informed of this on booking the room the spoke to reception who said they would pass on my feedback, but let’s see if anyone gets back in touch about that…. Then it got worse!!! Breakfast!!! Well what can I say it was chaotic and let’s face it very unhygienic when around 30 people are all crowding around one area all touching everything and coughing snotting on everywhere…have we not learnt anything in this country where hygiene is concerned????… Remember not everyone washing their hands and after all we were all sitting down to eat a meal…not a nice thought of the person who handled the prongs before you had just been the loo… there are regulations about hand hygiene when served food by staff but free for all when it comes to self serve.. continental, drinks, toaster, hot food all in one small area and everyone was crowding around each trying to get what they wanted… chaos….each station should have an individual area and maybe one of the staff could serve out the hot food…. Very DISAPPOINTED!!!!

A bit of a dump. Tired hotel paint peeling on walls outside, shower doesn’t work properly. Holes in the bathroom door. Terrible service from staff who really didn’t care. Could be a lovely spot but isn’t well looked after. Don’t stay here.

I visited the bar, without staying in the hotel.Convenient, clean and utterly without charm. A bland chain-hotel atmosphere. Terrible selection of beers in the bar. Food choices limited, although the burgers we settled on were not bad.Ample parking and very handy for the M6.

Good location and close to M6 , good value for money and comfortable beds. Room with a great view of the river. Breakfast was very nice as well 5/5. Great value for money, would book again.

·

Great price and location. The reception area is nice but the rooms and breakfast area were old, tired, a little grubby and could have done with a deep clean. Okay for a one night stay!

Nice room, decent breakfast. Staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. However the in room tea making facilities are not brilliant (very little milk for example). Breakfast was a bit random, some items were really well labeled, others weren't labelled at all so had no idea what it was. The breakfast tea making facilities were overly complicated. Another thing of note, there was no provision for EV charging, quite an issue in the modern world for a motorway services.
