The Brown Hare in South Ribble
Where is The Brown Hare?

"The Brown Hare is a smart family pub with stylish vintage-inspired décor. We do delicious restaurant-style food in the kind of relaxed and friendly atmosphere you want to find when you walk into a really nice British pub. Pop in for a quiet pint and a sandwich. Come as a couple and enjoy a fine meal with a good bottle of wine. Make it a family affair. There’s an indoor play area that's just perfect for toddlers, and an outdoor play area aimed at older children. Our stylish patio and beer garden were made for alfresco dining. When there’s a chill in the air, come inside and get cosy by our log fire. Every single chicken dish we serve is made from Red Tractor farm-assured chicken."

Disappointed this evening. Usually able to sit at a nice table even when we only have coffee and desert but were told we had to sit in bar area( not as nice)! as not having a full meal. A shame and will be reluctant to come back now. I could have understood the reasoning had the restaurant are had been busy but it was after 8 and, fairly quiet.

Service was lovely the lady on duty was attentive and polite. Food was delicious however I must say 3 roast potatoes is a bit rubbish when I don't actually do vegetables I thought I'd leave the maple carrots and parsnips on but to have 7 massive ones on didn't do it for me! beef and Yorkshire pudding lovely though. Desert was delicious and I didn't have to wait very long. I will say though it lacked atmosphere.. so strange really as there were a fair few people in but it was a Sunday so we all could have been a tad tired or hung over ;)

It was the first time me and my husband have been out since the COVID breakout as my husband has terminal cancer, so we have had to be very careful. I, myself am currently on crutches following a much awaited foot operation. I mentioned my crutches when I booked our table and asked if we could be put in a quiet location. We were greeted by a very pleasant young lady who gave me a choice of vacant tables, even though there was one reserved for us. We chose the perfect table in a little alcove and out of the way of people passing. Sad to have to say it, but it's a sign of very sad times, but we felt safe. We were promptly given our menus and given a little time to decide what we wanted to drink and then given more time to choose our options from the menu. Very unusually for us we had three courses. Each one was presented well and very tasty. The staff were very attentive and helpful and service was made with a smile. Will definitely be back and hoping for the same fantastic service. Thank you for making our evening relaxed.

Great place to visit. A large choice of lagers and ales at reasonable prices. Both cash and contactless accepted. Outstanding menu choices with well cooked and presented meals. Good sized portions and value for money. Spotless W.C. ☆☆☆☆☆

We went for my mums birthday (17 of us including kids). The wait was a little long but it was very busy. The food came in big portions and everyone said they loved their meals. I had fish and chips and that was delicious.. The desserts are excellent and very tasty indeed.. The prices are very reasonable and no doubt we'll be back..

Great pub. Been many times and have never been disappointed. Food delicious. Staff are always helpful and doing their best when the pub is packed. My steak and ale pie was very tasty with lovely soft pastry. I tried the lasagna as well which was melt in your mouth scrumdidlyumsious. Our Son enjoyed the playarea outside, whilst we had a beer in the sun. Friendly relayed atmosphere. Dog friendly too.

Easily booked table online although they do have some tables for walk-ins. Service was quick and attentive. The food was really good and plenty of it. Had the Mezze sharing board and Chicken and Portobello Pie. Highly recommend and would definitely go again.
