Frankie & Benny's in St. Helens

Appalling! We went on Wednesday 8th Nov 2017 (to celebrate my son's 9th birthday) he chose Frankie and Benny's (we hadn't been for a couple of years). It hadn't improved, if anything it was worse! It took 2 hours for our main meals to come (excuse-short staffed).My salmon looked like it had been sitting under the warmer for the same length of time! (£13 meal)!!!! Edible, but flavourless! Both our children were starving. We couldn't wait to leave, after arriving about 6pm, the mains arrived just before 8pm! My husband and son didn't get their desserts because we left. 50% off the bill - good job, it wasn't even worth £29!!! And to top it all off my son left his brand new Star Wars birthday hat. We drove back last night to find it wasn't there??? So do the staff not sweep and tidy for the next customers then, and if they do, they help themselves to lost and found items. I hope the person responsible for taking my son's hat (rather than handing it in) has a WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS! My son is heartbroken and I will never ever go back!!

The staff make this place, they really do, very friendly, full of good humour and they do their best to accommodate your needs. You have someone autistic in the family who will only eat a particular thing. Bring it they'll sort it for you, within reason of course. Microwave some rice for you've brought for instance or allow them to have a pack lunch. They are great with Birthdays, putting the lights down and birthday music on, bringing the cake etc. Good food too.

Went on the 22nd March the first pizza was not cooked and was still dough on the underside. There next attempt was not much better and that was also returned. They are moving soon so maybe they will train there kitchen staff how to make a simple pizza.

F&b used to have the best staff the most amazing food but they seem to of gone very cheap looking and I'd like to say tasting however after sitting for almost 2 hours with no food arriving we just told the waitress we are leaving. Such a shame but will not use F&B again

My son loves the place, it's fine but think the cooking is a bit to be desired sometimes.. It's a shame as it used to be really nice.Manager is lovely and not problems with staff

My partner and I have been going here every Sunday morning for a few months now as a little treat. It seems to be the same staff each week and they always make us feel very welcome. The surroundings are always very relaxed and a special note should be made for the efforts Graham makes to ensure our visit is always impeccable. We had been previously of an evening and really were not impressed (different staff). After the success of our Sunday mornings, we tried an evening again this last week and unfortunately again we were not impressed (although the waitress put a lot of effort in despite the apparent lack of support from someone else on shift who was clearly management). The difference between the morning service and evening service leaves us bemused as to if this is even the same restaurant.I would highly recommend anyone wanting to try a new breakfast venue gives Frankie & Benny's a go. Each meal has been fantastic and I cannot fault the morning service.Well done Graham, and thank you for making us so welcome each visit!

Waited ages for drinks, food was poor quality how can u have a tomatoes based pasta with no tomatoes based sauce just oil, one waitress called me darling she was half my age, over priced £70 for crap food would have got better quality for half the price in Witherspoon. Got order wrong and all the food came out in drinks and draws. The poor manager was the only one run ragged trying to make up for the distinct lack of anyone else's giving a care, only reason we left a tip

Took my three grandson's 21st October approx 4.45pm with my daughter.Service was hit and miss..my eldest grandchild ordered spaghetti carbonara it was swimming in oil,mushrooms were not fresh,bacon over cooked. My grandson left it...I did complain and they knocked it off the bill. ...that was not the point. The seating area had a rip on it....not been for ages will not be in a hurry to go back.

Poor had a chicken and mushroom pasta with a cheese crust, came with a tiny bit of cold grated cheese on the top. I told waiter menu said cheese crust and he put a bit more cold cheese on. Started to eat it and the mushrooms were either tinned or boiled! There was no flavour, no garlic, onion nothing. I asked waiter politely to return it and he said, what should I say to the chef! Got a wrap instead cajun chicken which was cold with cold grated cheese on. Awful, really gone down the pan. Won't be returning.

Decided to give the place another go. We'd been a couple of weeks ago and I ordered chicken pitta. The chicken looked dirty, not chargriled but dirty and it was in half a pitta which looked greasy. How on earth does a pitta get greasy?! With some sloppy lettuce inside.We went this time for lunch. I asked for a caesar salad, which apparently has dough sticks. It turned up with big lumps of ciabatta in it and no cheese. When I asked about the bread they told me there was none left so they substituted it with bread pieces and brought some cheese over! If you don't have parts of a meal you should tell people not just replace it with something elseWe had to shout someone over to get an ice cream for the baby and same again after waiting ages for the bill. There's also a big hole in the ceiling that's been there for at least a few weeks.Whatever you do don't go here. The food is greasy, bland, same as what you ordered if your lucky and way over priced
