La Casa Vieja in St. Helens

Midweek evening visit. Very quiet and food came out suspiciously quickly. Battered calamari was nice. Spicy meatballs looked and tasted warmed up. Chicken with chorizo and vegetables looked and tasted warmed up. Several of the creamy mushrooms were still raw inside. Patatas bravas potatoes were quite soggy and tasted earthy. Dips were nice and the lager and wine were also fine. Very expensive. Larger portion sizes do not make up for poor quality unfortunately. Waiter was pleasant, however did not appear too concerned with our comments after asking how our food was

Make sure you have plenty of money.Spanish tapas is cheap.La Casa Vieja is not cheap.Go early.We went for a meal with friends (a party of four) at 8.15. The staff were standing behind the bar with their coats on about 10.15 on a Friday evening. We didn't even get offered dessert!Nice atmosphere though and the serving staff were friendly and helpful.

Really authentic, delightful staff. We had a several dishes between 6 of us( all larger then the average tapas dishes ) and they were all amazing, highly recommend the meat balls.

Visited last night for the first time. The food was delicious. Cosy environment, staff very friendly, sangria very good. Portions are large. If we had to choose a favourite it would be the courgette frittatas. Highly recommended!!

Had tapas here, first visit and really enjoyed it. Great friendly atmosphere, tapas was fantastic good portions and full of flavour. Will be going again.

It was ok. The food was acceptable but the staff were very good. Really friendly helpful waitresses and bar staff. I wouldn't be in a rush to go back.

Really lovely little place with a great athuentic feel. Food was amazing and the staff there are great. I'd recommend the black pudding ! Sizes are bigger than most tapas , 5/6 between 2 is great if you are having a few drinks too ! Can't wait to come back

Fantastic food, every dish so different and tastes amazing. Great atmosphere, cocktails are the best around too
