Was a big fan of this place the fish and chips were the best in town, however not anymore been 3 times in last 6 weeks and portions getting smaller and smaller yet prices going up.Best to order a kids meal for price as there is no difference, come on Lol ( the owner sort it out !).

Best fish and chips in St Helens. Staffed by fab ladies, all very friendly.

I had a Gluten free fish and chips and was shocked to see that the server picked up a normal fish cooked and transfer it to another plate, then cut a few barns for burgers and finally without washing her hands picked up raw fish to put in the gluten free batter, and didn’t understand what the fuss was about when I complained !!! She then asked if I wanted vinegar!! If you know anything about gluten you will know it’s in vinegar - further more I had a bad reaction after eating the food !!! Not a place I would recommend at all hygiene is disgraceful

Burger was very dry and the chips were a bit sad looking and greasy and you also have to wait a while for your food

Only had take-away fish, chips and peas, but small portion is as big as a lot of large portions in other chip shops. The food is delicious and amongst the best I have had. Freshly cooked to order every time.

Cheeseburger on the menu - £2,40, chips - £1,45. Two cheeseburgers with a bit of chips on the plate - £9,60. All my life I was good with numbers, but go figure this puzzle. Young girl by the register cost them three customers. Actually, three weeks before I called to compliment them on fries. Those are good, but charging customers extra 35% - that ain't gonna fly. I think reasoning is no one will argue in line. Well, that works once. Oh and your 4,80 burger is a microwave defrosted till rock solid bun, a quaterpound of dry mystery meat and 10 grams of grated cheddar on top. Sauce, salad, tomato, onion, pickle - fuggetaboutit. So, yeah, never knew I'd say that, but McDonalds wins quality wise.

Been a few times I would have given 5 stars but I went the other day and they were different staff looked like they needed a good sleep and a smile they was enough to put you of eating

Was very few chips and the plate looked empty. I also had pudding and curry sauce. Tasted nice though.

Try the £6 meals, which includes bread and butter, tea. If you require decaffeinated tea they can provide it. The fish has a very light fluffy batter which is not small or greasy. Lovely attentive ladies serve and can soon accommodate wheelchairs with a cheery smile. If the cafe is full you can go in the Nelson Pub nextdoor and order in there as the chippy cooks for the pub and serves through a connecting door.
